IN is 30 bucks 5 axles east gate to west gate, where 80 and 90 are together, the extra at the west end is I-90 to the Chicago Skyway. I think sometimes someone comes up too close behind you and they count one of his axles as yours.
It hasn't happened to me but one of my aquaintances had it happen to him.
I never have that much time to spend on the PA, Turnpike, but the original post was interesting.
What I really like now is crossing the Delaware River from Jersey to PA and Delaware, did they raise all of the tolls or just the ones I use?

OK...the follow-up, so far.
Monday almost came and went without a call and I thought I should follow-up and made the call myself. I spoke with 2 very nice, hospitable ladies who seemed more than willing to hear my story. And get this, Trucker's Trucking Forum...the nice lady I spoke with after being referred to the appropriate department within the PA Turnpike Commission asked me was I the guy that posted on an internet forum somewhere about this incident?! I told her that I was the driver. The folks at the Turnpike HQ's had already printed this off as I was told they routinely monitor things like this. I was kinda amazed but it goes to show ya, make the complaint...somebody's listening somewhere.
Now this happened on Friday afternoon and here it was Monday and they already knew about this by seeing it here on TTF.
Very understanding lady...her hubs was a trucker too she told me and she understood all about the hours and the rest breaks and the regulations, etc. She assured me that this collector in question was not right about questioning me or any other trucker about their mandated breaks and that it was for sure he over-stepped his job duties. I was relieved, so far, as they are still in the process of reviewing this incident and will issue a written statement on it. Apparently, they are busy folks over there.
So, until further notice...I guess ya'll should take your breaks while on the 'pike. It looks like this &^*^%$% was every bit the pointy head he seemed to be. Good to know I haven't lost my character judging abilities. And maybe I DO have a friend in Pennsylvania. (Used to be a state slogan I believe).supertrucker102, Bigarmin88, double_r and 1 other person Thank this. -
1) If the turnpike commission reads this, then i appreciate the numerous emergency rest/parking pads spreadout throughout the whole length of the turnpike. Good idea.
2) While i have rested at least 8 hours---sometimes at rest pads or the numerous rest areas i'm not aware of being charged a "overtime fee" because i use the company ezpass.
But it's good to know that no such fee exists, and, that the higher up turnpike workers are doing their job. -
The Kansas Pike has excessive time on the back of the ticket. I think you have either 8 or 10 hours from the time you get your ticket to the time you get off, other wise you must pay full price for the whole pike even if you get on at one exit then get off at the next exit.

That's one turnpike I avoid like the plague except for the Topeka to west of KC portion. The rest of it is easy to get around.

A follow-up to the "excessive time" on the Penn Turnpike...a little excessive time for the reply to reach me but better late than never:
Nice letter from the PA Turnpike Commission/Director of Fare Collections, states that this matter was referred to ***** *****, District Manager, who would discuss this matter with the toll collector involved. The letter to me states that I should rest assured that this behavior will not be repeated again. Also, the collector's action will be monitored in the future.
Apologies sent my way for the inappropriate customer service...so if you, the Pennsylvania Turnpike folks, are continuing to monitor this site, your apologies are accepted. Nice ending to a puzzling situation brought about by a toll collector with either bad information or a bad attitude...or both.
Moral to the story is you cannot ignore the Motor Carrier regs and drive all you want while on the 'pike. I/we already knew that but apparently the toll collector had no clue what he was stepping into by telling me I could not take my 10 hour break on the Turnpike.
Now back to regularly scheduled programming...Fratsit Thanks this.
