Sorry if im asking too many questions. It's just im a little confused and frustrated for being confused. Im in the san francisco, CA area and just really got to figure out what my decision is going to be. Trucking sounds perfect for me. However, I cannot do it full time and dedicated my whole life to it. I just don't see how that is a crime and I still want to do it. 4 days on, 4 days off sounds perfect. Does Schneider have something like that? How do i find this info out. I wanna get going with trucking! Part time would be good for lots of people since most get burned out in their first year. 4 days on, 4 days off or 7 days on 7 days off. I need something like this. I don't need to make 4 k a month at it, just 1,500 or so.
Advice on my situation regarding part time trucking jobs...

i think the least amount of time youre gonna be out is 10 days
go get a local job....pay for CDL training yourself and apply to all the LTL companies in your area...you can be home everynight -
Dude as everyone has said in all your posts youre not gonna find something like that unless you find someone local. Which in your case is gonna be almost impossible, most small companies require at least 1 yr otr most are 3 yrs. So either suck it up and pay your dues or find something else.

Then it is not perfect for you, since that is exactly what it takes.
It is not just a job, it is a lifestyle.
And, being as it is a lifestyle, that means you pretty much dedicate your life to it. -
Exactly! lol If youre not in it whole hearted it will break and own your ###.

The truck must roll to make money. If the truck sits, makes no money. If you want to work 4 days a week, he will have to hire another driver, to fill the days you dont want to work. What my idea would be, Is you can tell a company, you want to be a casual,or fill in for drivers on vacation.

First Julian, if trucking is what you think you want to do. You have to get your schooling behind you, pay your loan off and get your one year experience before you can even think about what you want to do. That takes working 24/7, 70+ hours a week.
There are a few companies that will slip seat a truck and rotate with 2-3 drivers. There's different options like 7 on, 7 off. I think Roehl has the Green Mile program? There are more. You need to live near their terminal. -
