Was contacted by a recruiter tonight and she seemed pretty high on JBS . I have been reading threads and it all seems to be good ... I'm getting pretty excited about this company and I'm actaully getting excited about maybe being a part of it . I have right about 20 months OTR exprerience and right now I am working a local job driving a older Kenworth pulling flatbed. I got my start pulling dry van for Swift but that was not the company for me though they were good to get my foot in the door. I have a spotless DMR with no arrests or anything negative. My work record is pretty good only 3 jobs in the last 25 years. I have read alot of this thread but also skipped through parts of it ... There is alot of posting going on about this company in a short time...lol...
But I do have a few questions like how hard is it to keep up a reefer unit? 2 weeks is a long time between paychecks does JBS allow you to take advances? Are the trucks auto shift , 9 speeds , 10 speeds ??? Most of my experience is with a 9 speed but 10 speed would not be hard to adjust to ... Who picks up the cost on wieght tickets? I'm not to worried about home time the kids are grown one lives here in S.Georgia and one out in Cali.
I'm just looking to get back out on the road after driving moslty Georgia and Bama and Florida the past year ... And this will give me a chance to see my daughter and gandkid more often out in Cali... How is the rider policy my son is 21 but likes to ride with me from time when he can. Thanks for all the info ... Doc Holiday I really like your posts and thanks to all of you for the info ... It is nice to see a company that seems to care about thier drivers ... Also one last question does JBS have a terminal in Georgia or the Southeast ...It would seem they would seeing Atlanta is a major hub for traffic in the South East.

Doc I have read this post from page 1 to 196. I want to say thanks for all your input. It's rare if not impossible to find someone such as yourself keeping such a prefessional approach to everything you encounter good or bad. Looking forwar to meeting you one day in the near future.
DocHoliday Thanks this. -
Well, today was "qualifying day" as they say. I first for me was the dreaded ergo, which really wasn't all that bad. At first your range motion is tested. Really no pass or fail there unless u flat out cant do the exercises. After that was the physical part of the ergo, where they watch your heart rate before, during, and after various activities. But before that they take your blood pressure, has to be below 140/90. It took me a couple of tries but i got mine below that and was able to proceed with the rest of the ergo test. Easy stuff, though it will give you a good work out if you are not used to doing such things.
After that for me was the pee test.... no need for explanation there.
Later on was lunch, now, i had asked a couple guys that had already done their dot physical were their blood pressures re-checked there, the guys i asked said no, so i indulged in a couple pieces of pizza and a pepsi. I figured whats the harm? got past the bloodpressure check and the ergo, im good to go! (little did i know.....)
After a few more hours and a safety meeting where i meet the infamous foxfire, (nice to meet you by the way), it was time for me to take my dot physical. So i do the vision and hearing test and the the cough thing so far so good. Then she decides to check my blood pressure again. My heart dropped. Came out to be 140/97.... too high... and no do-overs. So i'm out until i can get on some bp meds. Shouldn't take long though and i will be back!
Lesson learned, WATCH YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE, it can and will keep you from a good job, not to mention the effects it has on your health.
So today was a sad day for me, but i will not give up! i refuse! JBS is where i decided to go and i will make it!
well that's it for now for awhile folks, until next time.....
o and hey doc or foxfire, who is the bald guy with NYC accent hanging around the terminal? he was pretty cool too.Justtrucking Thanks this. -

The benefits are, it is cheaper, on fuel, to use an apu than it is to idle your trk and it lets you stay cool or warm, in all these states that have come up with anti-idleing laws.
A lot of trks nowa days, will also have some type of bunk htr in them. Usually run off of diesal and is a seperate item from the apu. -

Just curious on something like that high BP or failing the wellness test ... Do you have to find your own way back home ... Or did they get you back home. I have never seen anyone stranded at a orientation but then again you do hear some horror stories...
