Training day 15 here at Millis Transfer Inc. - We went over this morning to get our urinalysis test done, then it was back to the Cartersville Ga terminal for a quick brief then out the door to complete our pre-trip inspections in order to get out on the road. Today we focused on hill driving and getting the training needed to safely maneuver over this type of terrain. Though we were pulling an empty trailer I learned alot on utilizing the jake brakes and proper braking skills coming down the hillls. Furthermore, the downtown Cartersville Ga driving that we completed last week help me with the downshifting while climbing the hills today. We went over lookout mountain into Alabama and I got to drive during the transit over and there sure were some tight turns along this route. But I sure did enjoy the ride not to mention the scenery into ValleyHead Ala was incredible. During this trip we experienced a pickup truck trying to pass a car while meeting us on a two lane highway that caused one of our drivers to have to get on the brakes to avoid a possible wreck. Few miles later as we were approaching a side road a pickup pulls out from the right side of the highway while turning left as we were very close to him, and again we had to apply firm brakes to avoid a possible accident again. Two nerve racking moments!! However, this fully solidified how we HAVE TO pay attention every second while we are behind that wheel and be ready for immediate action at a moments notice! Overall, a great day and one more closer to getting out on the road! Tomorrow we will be doing more city driving to touch up on some needed shifting techniques. Looking forward to it and besides that city driving offers some unique challenges. As always guys and gals thanks for reading and more to follow tomorrow, so stay tuned. Have a fine evening!

On training day 16 we got some more needed city driving around Cartersville Ga. I obviously still need more practice and just plain more experience behind the wheel and hoping to quickly get better while finishing with my trainer while out over the road.
Training day 17 (Grad Day) - We cleaned the training trucks out, finished up on some paperwork, and were invited to a hamburger cookout there at the terminal. The burgers were great!! I will be on my way home today to get ready for the road training experiencefor anywhere to 5-8 weeks depending on how well I pick everything up. I am looking forward to it, however, I know it is going to take extreme commitment and determination to excell in this profession. I just wanted to take a moment and say to everyone there at the Millis Terminal at Carterville, I appreciate the professionalism and focus on the students progression of learning. The school has been fantastic (In my honest opinion) and an enjoyable experience. Want to say thanks to Greg for being a hell of a trainer with tons of patience. Job well done! To all the other students who attended this class, I wish you all long health and continous safety! God Bless! -
Congrats on graduating. Best of luck.
