You live in a city there are places that there is NO C-Phone coverage I found this out when I blew a tire in Alabama. I had no trouble getting help on a local 2 meter repeater who called AAA. Strangly I was near a WELCOME STATION and pulled it to it with the trire GONE off the rim ....
By the time AAA got to me the guys in the welcome station had put my spair rire on and got me on the road to the nearest town FT PAYNE ...

Yep 2 way radio is alive and well ....

No way the phone companys are going to put 900 Mhz towers in Podunk USA. C-Phones have limits My brother lives in UTAH there are many places your phone is a useless brick.

Good point. But then again you also don't need all of what you have to talk 8 miles either. I've talked 8 miles easy on 4 watts and a Wilson 1000 antenna.

Plus, you have to know whoever you want to talk to cell phone number! Some of the teenage boys here locally are putting CBs in their trucks. They have figured out it is easier to make one call on a CB than 14 on a cell phone.

And when the power goes out area wide so does the cell phones. But my 2-way keep on ticking. Just ask New York after 911. Or New Orleans after Katrina no cell phone. But CB & Amateur radios still worked. And no monthly bill. I do own a cell phone but radios are dependable. No dead zones.
