When my friend's dad was a trucker, he would bobtail home for the weekend.
That is, until he was backing in and broke one of the support poles for the porch roof. His wife wasn't too happy with the truck being brought home after that.

I'm a company driver and take my truck AND trailer home each time. I live in an apartment community that has truck parking about 2 blocks away from my home, right on the street. Very convenient.
-
I live 10 minutes from our yard so I leave it there and let them worry about it and ride the Harley to the truck and back home. No waiting around the shop for service or repairs and if I happen to get through the terminal during the week i get a night in my own bed and the truck stays there.
And home every weekend.
Win win no matter how you look at it lol -
mine is in the driveway now, and i am a company driver.

I lived 75 miles from the closest terminal with Swift, and 250 miles from JB Hunt's terminal and I took my truck home with both jobs.

Depends on the situation. If it's something where I get to swing by for a day or night or whatever, yes. There's a vacant lot next to the Walgreen's a block from me, and I park there. There are other drivers who park there, as well - a couple Western Distribution drivers, and I've seen a Swift truck parked there once before, as well. Less than a mile away is a half abandoned strip mall where a lot of drivers park during their home time, as well.
For scheduled home time, boss man wants the truck brought in. It's only about 45 minutes from where I live, so it's no big deal. Honestly, I prefer not to bring it home. Lots of people walk through that lot, and I don't trust people in general, so... -
Mine goes home with me. I own mine, though.
