Makes for an interesting issue for those that carry in their truck.
Could be an expensive lesson to find out the hard way like this guy did.
Any real answer about gun carry?

More to the story, I'm sure - I've never had a state trooper in my truck cab... and if the gun was back in a bag somewhere, there's no way it would be seen during normal circumstances.
$100 says he was one of those morons running with an open warrant or something, and they tossed the truck... and rightfully so.123456 Thanks this. -
I can certainly agree with you there. Maybe it was in plain sight as well. While I don't agree with the strict gun laws, we do have to obey them.
-
They found it during the search in the glove box.

To keep it simple, know the laws of the states you will be traveling through. The information is out there. I carry and I make the necessary adjustments for whatever state is coming up next.

Makes sense - ask yourself - during a DOT inspection, has anyone EVER gone in your glovebox? Not mine. I've had a trooper stand on the step and look inside the truck, evidently looking for bedding and to make sure I'm not sneaking my pet cheetah around.
He got busted for something stupid, and they searched his truck. -
The border guys do.
But, never had a dot do anything but just look inside. -
I bought a little fire safe specifically for the purpose of locking up my piece when traveling through a state that requires it.
Roadmedic Thanks this. -
@Roadmedic, I didn't see the part where is said glove box. I only saw it say "passenger compartment". If you have additional links, please post them. I would love to read more about this.
Here is a very powerful video about the reason and right to carry.
