Have not heard either way, but maybe look up Schilli I think they are owned buy the same people. I thought about Wabash valley but I cannot do $13/hour which is what the job I was looking at paid.

i recently went to wabash valley orienation. i spent all week between remmington ind. and shoals ind. i did not make a penny. they kept me in nasty motels feed me hamburgers and kfc. it cost me a 100.00 dollars out of my pocket. they did not even supply ink pens or rulers. it was a joke, the trucks are junk, the drivers i talked to were unhappy. needless to say i called my wife to pick me up. unless you are at rock bottom, i would stay clear of them!!

Some would tell you to give them some more time - to stick it out for a while longer. Hog wash! You did the right thing by going home and regrouping. A company that shows it's real colors that quickly did you a favor! There are still a lot of oppertunities for a driver in this business. Good Luck to you consmith.

But they bought you meals? And didn't make you pay for the hotel or meals? -
Ink pens? You can't supply your own or a spiral binder to take notes on? What were you going to use when they assigned you a truck, handed you forms to fill out while on the road and to fill out the logbook with and to sign fuel receipts and BOLs with?
Heck no one really supplies writing equipment when you can, and put it on your taxes at the end of the year, while writing with the pen you like over a cheap, bought at bulk prices, POS pens!
They did feed you which is a bit better than bringing in a few pizzas and watching the feeding frenzy happen at lunch time!
But it's probably good that you decided they weren't worth you time. Hope you do find someone to work with. -
Ok, I wasn't going to, but I have to. This just isn't with the trucking industry, but ANY orientation or training course you attend, there's going to be forms to fill out, notes to take, and you'll sign your name a lot. Involving all of that, why wouldn't you bring a pen? Or 2-3, and maybe a pencil/mechanical pencil?
Sorry, but Iif I ran the orientation class at ANY trucking company, and you didn't show up with a pen, I'd make you leave. If you can't even be organized enough and remember enough to have a 50 cent pen on your body or in your bag, HOW ON EARTH are you going to get a dispatch, understand where and when you need to proceed, map your route trip plan for time, arrive on time, deliver in time, and be compliant with all the DOT stuff like logs, DVIR, etc??
That's like filling out a job application, spelling your name wrong, and having to ask for another application. I'd say sorry, sir, the position has been filled by someone who knows how to write their name.Tazz Thanks this. -
Gotta love the ones that check no on graduation from elementary school
Passed on a guy once at the dairy over that. Next month he ripped the head off a $30000 flush cow with $150,000 worth of wrecked feed wagon and tractor
Buddy quit calling me a hard butt after that. -
Yessir, it's those little things that give us hints about the big things.
Perfect example, in basic training, we had to fold our underwear, socks in t-shirts in 6" squares. A dollar bill is 6", so it was easy to figure out.
One of the troops I was in basic with had the nerve to ask the drill sergeant WHY we had to do that. He said "Well, moron, if you can't fold underwear in a square, do you think we should trust you with working on an avionics system or guarding nuclear weapons?"
