flyingmusician.... may I ask what company you've had such a good experience with? Since this is my first post, I can't send a PM. But I'd like to take a look at the company you like so much - I'm thinking of getting back on the road. Thanks.
Are trucking companies this bad?

Thanks, flyingmusician. I just took a look at their site and while I do meet their qualifications, their hiring area is only in the northern part of my state - I couldn't live any further south in Alabama. However, I do have a sister who lives up there, so perhaps I could use her address. If so, I'm keeping your info and will definitely mention you if it comes to that. Thanks again.

The more you study this forum, the better prepared you'll be. Yes, companies will treat you poorly.
It's the same kind of relationship you'll find in a county jail. You don't matter to management, and it's your fault. If you can take the abuse and ask for more, you get to pay your bills by working there another day, another month, another year..
After you get past the newbie stage you're capable of providing value to a decent organization. That means being predictable, stable, accident free, compliant and on time. This is the point where you partner with professional organizations. When you step up to each level you're starting at the bottom again.
Stay professional, accept responsibility, build a professional relationship and you can thrive.
Crap companies don't waste their effort on truly professional drivers, professional drivers don't stay with crap motor carriers. -
I know what I'm looking for - just not sure where to find it. But I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'll start a new one with more specifics. Thank y'all for the input so far.

Its like shooting darts mate, sometimes you have to throw alot of darts to hit a bulls eye, getting or finding the right CO to work for is abit the same way keep firing away eventually you'll settle up with something your satisfied with.

Watkins Shepard seems to have a good rep. And they have a terminal real close to me. Any one driver for them?

Seriously, you're in a position that's a glorified daycab driver job - you should be getting hourly pay, and your company is making out BIG time by paying you $300 a week, when an hourly guy would make $600.
Run away as soon as you can, OR get out of the Northeast - you being from NJ, you know there's a 100-125 mile radius around NYC that's a traffic jam 18-20 hours a day... get out of there and make some money!PineyRider Thanks this. -
I don't see that. where is the line between OTR and local delivery of students? 200 miles in a day?
I do see where they have the extra law of limit on total hours of driving in a given time period.
