I was all happy about this until I called my trainer and found out that while legally this is true, our company requires us to log ANY driving time on line 3. If I drop a trailer at a yard, drive 4 miles to a ts, then the next day drive 4 miles back I have to log 15 mins for each trip for a total of 30 mins logged drive time for an 8 mile round trip. What BS.

i believe that is the reason to logg pretrips and shipper times also at 15 minutes.

dot does not like anything less than 15 minutes on the loggs it looks suspicious to them

15 min for a pre trip, 15 min for drop and hook, 15 min for just a drop, 15 min for just a hook, 30 min for a live load, 15 min for fuel....

I'll just be very irritated if I get to north jackson OH on friday and don't have enough hours to drive home because they won't let us log it off duty.

No, it;s not 100 mile rule. Round trip is over 300 miles.

100 mile rule can still apply if your never more than 100 miles from your home terminal/base.

As far as use of the 16-hour day once per week, there is no 100-mile limitation. The only limitations are the driver returns to the same location at the end of each shift for the previous 5 work shifts, and there is a solid 10-hour break on each side of it. This is another topic that has been discussed ad nauseum.
