Been a crazy week. seen a driver pull away from a dock in Alanta. Trailer some how stayed on 5th wheel, when he turned, down went trailer, Landing gear up, buckeled, fuel tank flattened. all he had to do was take 1 min to look to see that the kingpin was locked. would have saved a 2 truck tow bill to lift the trailer and cost to repair trailer. Dont take for granted that the pin is locked, have had to reset lock a couple times.
Question for other JBS drivers, about how many relays do you do in a 2 week run?

    True true about the pin..

For the relays I've been a few months and have not done any. But my brother has been here month and half and has done 3 so far.

Question from a guy coming to orientation. What are the relays you guys talk about? Is it simply a term you guys use to describe something I'm already aware of like running plant to pant or swapping trls with other drivers?

Yeah, I was gonna say. For the morons who think that is funny, just imagine if it were YOUR family driving next to the truck.

About the relays, we were told in orientation yesterday that they do entirely too many relays and are trying to cut back on those.

About cummins being in all the trucks; I'm really not sure being brand new myself but we had the cummins lady come in yesterday to tells us some info about the engines. I kno for sure that cummins is in all the kenworths and I'm pretty sure they are in all the petes also but again I'm not certain.

So we finished orientation yesterday and we were given our id badges and comdata cards and all that nice stuff. All the vets were assigned their trucks and some trainees were assigned trainers. To the next orientation group (i hear there is gonna be like 40 of you guys..... Crazy lol) if u have to go out with a trainer, all I can say is be proactive! Don't just hang around the hotel waiting for a trainer if you weren't able to get one. Also if u smoke and need to go out with a trainer, you may want to rethink that habit in order to help ur chances at getting a trainer quicker.

Today a couple of us trainees are going up in the mountains in a rental, ought to be pretty cool.

That's it for now guys, take it easy.

Yep it is always good to check that King pin any time you stop you never know when you are gonna piss someone off and they pull that pin on you to get even. Or just for a joke ... It is not something I would ever do but you run into some sick people out there on the road.

Also for any of you coming to the pilgrims pride in Douglas Ga. be very careful the DOT and State Troupers are extemey hot here right now. We had a Lumber Transport driver on the Cell phone come around a curve on 125 entering a construction site . The construction crew had about 8 cars stopped and the driver of the Semi never saw them until he hit them. Then his trailer full of plywood came around and slapped them on top of the hit... The first car he hit blew up the next two caught on fire, it resulted in 3 people dead and 8 in the hospitol. Be careful out there and slow down ...
