    anyone know how they base our miles for pay? I thought it was hub miles, based off my trip envelopes.. But, although close to those submitted numbers (like 10-15 miles usually), my paid miles very rarely matches exactly. Not to complain too loudly.. cuz those paid miles are usually more. Just curious.,

    I got to thinking about it because I was thinking of running shortcuts, but then.. if I got paid by hub miles I'd be cutting my pay back. Saving the company fuel, but my checks would be smaller. Lame!

    Then I thought well maybe they took the higher of the two numbers (ie., qc estimate vs your hub miles).. that'd work. I'd save time and fuel, but get paid ok. Kinda like a small bonus.

    Or maybe they averaged the two? but nope.. it doesn't appear to be any of those.. for me at least. (nor is it the qualcomm est miles)

    It's hub miles, my paystubs match my odomiter 99% of the time.

    If i run a short cut and save miles, thats all i log and turn in....I wont add miles to make more money, thats wrong and dishonest :biggrin_2558:

    They will pay you 2% over the routed miles, unless you note why you went over that, like avoiding the road closure in IA, or construction. If you go under the routed miles then you only get what you actually ran, so finding a shortcut isnt always the best idea, unless if works better for your logbook.

    I went to payroll with this exact question last week because my speedometer reads about 10% slower than what I am going. When my Speedometer says 60 MPH my GPS says I'm going 66. Thus, my odometer shows about 10% lower than the actual miles driven. Payroll said they pay by the routed miles you are shown on your load confirmations.

    T#.LA/M..Hub/M..Paid/M
    1..1522..1498...1513
    2...814...790....811
    3..1494..1470...1484
    4..1208..1217...1233
    5...494...419....419

    LA=load assigned
    /M= miles
    . = just spaces for formatting
    != does not equal

    These are 5 trips from a few weeks ago. As you can see:
    a. Paid Miles != Hub/M, and..
    b. Paid Miles != LA/M, and..
    c. Paid Miles != LA/M + 2% * except when my Hub/M was MORE than the LA/M. (T#4), which makes sense here.. as Wingrider pointed out. and..

    Best rules I can come up with are:
    1. if you drive more miles than your LA/M, you will get paid your Hub.M OR your LA/M miles + 2%, whichever is less.
    2. if you drive WAY under your LA/M, then you will get paid your Hub Miles.
    3. if you drive a little bit under your LA/M you will get paid some variable number between your LA/M and your Hub.M.

    I want to know how they come up with #3's variable number.. I can't predict it. Like T#2.. How'd they get 811??

    Sorry maybe I'm just an anal accountant type, but I like to know how things work. :)

    My checks have been paid on what I put on the trip envelope or slightly over, never under. I don't understand but don't care. If I do happen to get under paid then the red flags go up and I call ASAP to get it taken care of.
