The way I look at it a 4 year old truck is still a fairly newer truck. It all depends on who drove it and if they made sure it was taken care of. And they do not keep them over 4 years.

  3. Totally off topic here, but..
Any of you know of a truck stop w/ parking near San Francisco?
Delivering in Hayward and thought I would go see family afterwards.
The truck stop guide only shows fuel stops w/o parking.
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks for any help

  4. Lady k and Klingon, we have gone with Kraft-Erik is kraft DM out of WVC
We were asked to go over to his fleet, so not sure of process.
Right now we are doing the west coast runs-yea! I'm sure we will end up back east soon enough.
Asked about Fred Meyer and Dole-apparently hard to get on without a major recommendation.
Kraft seems to be good, Erik is great, great miles.
    So far so good.
    BTW, how's your daughter?

    Lady K Thanks this.

I am going to school for my cdl after the 19th and i have some questions. First off i have red about not being able to idle, is that true? Can i have someone come along with me after i go solo? Can i put inverters in the truck? I have been thinking about getting a cat or dog to ride with me, do they allow that? If i was to get on with another person and team drive can someone ride with me? How is life on the road?I have talked to a couple of people, well more like 4 people and they said they loved driving. Two have retired from driving one with 20 years on the road and one with 40 years on the road. All in my family. Then we have my husbands bother with 3 years exp and my best friends bother who drives for jbhunt with 8 years exp. They all have warned me about driving a big rig. But i really think driving is in my blood. I wanted to do this for many years now, but went along with my dad to be a nurse and it hasnt worked out for me. I hate nursing. I hope when i get throu with orientation with central i have a good trainer. How are the trainers? I want someeone that will really teach me the ways if the road.

I'll teach you the ways of the road baby....

    LOL, Just kidding.

Driving is not for everyone. But for many it is just what they were looking for.

I am not sure what some of the policy's are these days on riders and such. But I do know that you cannot have any pets. You can have inverters. You can idle, but must limit it. Since you will be charged for the fuel over your percentage.

Hey guys, with Central you earn 1 day hometime for every 7 days out, nut just wondering how stuff it is to take advantage of the time off days youve earned. Do the make it tough to get you home when you ask, as long as you do it well in advance?

From what i read Puffin on here, Central is most likly like all other trucking companies. if you give them a good notice well in advance that you want off on certain days they will do their best to give it to you. now granted what i learned from here, and dont hold me to it, is they will get you there but also try to get freight sent with you there. So a few days before your home time is you might end up heading the opposite direction then you want to go. Only to turn around with a load up the road somewhere to take you close to home.

And Tina in regards to Team This is from Central Refrig Website
and from what im looking at and from my understanding is if the truck goes for say 5000 miles in a week the truck being at .34 cpm then the truck would make $1700 before taxes. Divide that by 2 and you would get $850. Pay for solo starts at .28 cpm doing half of the same miles which would be 2500 you would make $700. Yeah there is a difference of $150. But also teams your making sure the truck is steady moving less chances of stopping most likly but also if the truck isnt moving the pay drops. What would happen if one week a team got 2500 miles due to electrical or mechanical issues? Then the truck would only make $850 and your paycheck would hurt more. There are good and bad with going team/solo. Team/Solo you can bring your loved one with you. But on solo when yall starting to argue and need space someone can go home and cool off. On team they just going in the TS or in the bunk. Solo you set your own scheduled stops. Team everyone got to agree. "I want subway lets stop at this Pilot" "I dont want that i want this. lets stop at the TA"

Just got to be careful who your going to ride with Team. id say try solo first and if possible financially have your loved one ride with you a little if they would be the one you wanna team up with. See how it would last It might work out. It might not.

    Good Luck Happy Truckin.

Thanks man for the feedback!! Also just thought about this.... ill be doing my orientation in Conley GA, but my home is NC, obviously the things you can bring along while doing your 5 weeks training are very limited. After your upgrade, will they allow me to come back home to get the rest of my stuff, clothes, tv, refrigerator, ect.... before heading out?
