Anyone else got one of these new engines. It's like they went and goot Macks old designs.

Trying some stuff with the computer but #### they are flat 1100-1250 rpm. Interested to hear if anyone gets some low end pull out of them. Our biggest pain is getting them sinc'd well with tranny.

Supposedly they are PACCAR built(?). Up in Washington state I think.

It does alright once you rev to 1250 or so then it pulls like a champ. Until then it just pulls real flat. Close to the same displacement as the old macks at 12.9. Maybe it's a size thing.

My new truck with the climbacab system is still 100 lbs lighter with all my gear in it. Had to bring a guy up to Baltimore to pick up a truck from the shop. He thought it pulled better than his ISX, and loved the engine brakes. Ours are programed to work with the cruise to engage when you exceed set MPH(when you have them engaged). I think they work well as well.

Just getting used to it I guess.

The 12,9l is a DAF motor and since Paccar own
DAF trucks they have adopted it as their own.
We run DAF trucks as well as trucks with , Volvo,Cat,Cummins & Detroit.
They are better on fuel and pull as as well as the others of the same HP.
On the trucks we have with them in we have intarders in the gearboxes so I cant comment on the engine brakes.

Yes, i know; It just seems not very cost effective considering i don't think "Paccar" ever really made their own engines until now?

i guess a better question would have been who designed the new "paccar" engine? It does not seem very cost effective move to start designing/building engines at this stage of the game. Sort of like if gm decided to manufacture tires or something.

Alright, it looks like DAF designed (and has built) this engine. See, i knew it---they pete and kw didn't design or build the engine.

i know paccar owns daf and all so technically it is a paccar design, but i meant american paccar for all practical purposes.
