Does anyone know where I can buy a cable that hooks up to my truck computer port and plugs into the USB port on my laptop

Are you talking about the round 9 pin diagnostic connector? If so, you need alot more than that.

I posted an answer for you in the other post, I see you were asking about the same thing. We see quite a few drivers asking about getting the hardware and software needed to plug into the trucks, but no one really does. Right now it is still too expensive for most guys to buy everything through dealerships or distributors. I think you can get stuff through Snap On too, but that is really expensive as well.

A cheaper option might be a Prolink off Ebay.

the Cummins software will not connect to the ABS or transmission, it is only for the engine parameters. You will need the specialized software from the ABS manufacturer and also from the transmission manufacturer. Also, you need more than just a cable to connect the diagnostic port to a computer, you need an interface to convert the signals from the truck connection to something the laptop and software can understand. Not all interfaces are compatible with all software.

Also, if you screw up the system, dealers do not look very kindly on drivers having "hacked" the truck systems and will often want (or need) to replace much of the electronics that have been screwed up, at prices that will make you wish you never touched it.

Unless you have the technical knowledge to make these adjustments, it is far safer to take it to the dealer and have it worked on. If they don't fix the problem take it back again at their expense until they get it right. With the questions you have asked I feel safe in assuming you have not had any experience or training with the use of these programs.
