Hell yes I would fight it. Sounds like their scale is screwed up.

    28K I wouldn't have scaled either.

So after your added the extra load, you scaled at CAT and it said you were 61,460??? You did not add ANYTHING else after that correct????

If that is the case then YES, of course you should fight it. Why wouldn't you fight it, since CAT pays for it all.....something sounds fishy here tho. One minute you tell us you were overweight and everyone knocks you for not using a CAT scale, then all of a sudden, you DID use a CAT scale :biggrin_2557:

Sorry man, but I call total BS on this entire story now.

Its believable. He hit up CAT after he got ticketed. Why say you hit the CAT scale after the fact to try to "salvage" your story, if he claimed he did it before it would be one thing but it makes sense that he didn't scale out since the load was 28k.

The real question is, if that Missouri scale is truly that far off, how has it not come up before?

Just another good reason to scale. It is pretty hard to fight the ticket, if you don't have any ammunition to fight it with.

I really do wonder just how many of these scales are really off, "just a bit," or "not enough to bother with," but enough to right tickets on. . .

OK, IF I am reading this correctly, then you are saying there is a 21,060 difference between the CAT weight and the DOT Scale weight. Is this correct?

This just does not sound logical, to me. (But what do I know?)

OTOH, since you DID unload part of the load and the reload it, I think you are going to have a tough time fighting the ticket. Because it is only your word that you put all the weight back on that you had on in the first place.

Had you gone directly from that scale to a CAT scale and weighed without "messing" with the load first, I think you would have a good chance of fighting this. But as it is, I think you are screwed.

And I really am having a problem with a 21 thousand + pound weight difference.

Yeah, I just re-read his post. I though he was saying the magically all of a sudden, he had scaled the load BEFORE he went across, hence why I was calling BS as he said he didn't the 1st time...

Also, as I read this, I realized he said he wasn't overweight in AZ and NM but that was because he got a green light on his prepass. Doesn't me he WASN'T overweight, he just got very lucky and got the bypass light.
