Husband started with Swift 1 month ago. Went with a trainer for 2 weeks, paid on time, upgraded last Thursday. No trucks for up to 3 weeks. So he's applied at Central Refrigerated and should be attending orientation next Monday if all goes well.

    What can we expect?

We have been told he will have to go out with a trainer for 4 or 5 weeks and get paid $450/week.

Is orientation paid? Do they provide Greyhound to the GA terminal? Do they provide hotel & food? What are the average miles after training? How long do you have to wait for a truck once you test out? How long out vs home time?

    Thanks!!!

    - $100 paid orientation which is NOT paid until you get placed on a trainers truck
    - $450 per week with trainer
    - Greyhound to Conley GA for 1 week then Greyhound to Salt Lake City Utah for 3 weeks. Once CDL is obtained then sent out with trainer
    - If your husband already has a CDL he should be placed with a trainer directly instead of the 3 weeks in Academy

I have not heard anything negative, that had merit, about CRS. This is why I've chosen them as well. Truck availablity is based on terminal, Fontana is short on trucks, SLC and Conley GA supposedly have some available.

Above is correct for the most part. $128 for orientation once seated in truck. They should just road test him within the first 2 days once he passes the road test he may have to spend 2 more days in company orientation, then out with trainer directly. Only need 200 hours driving with a trainer so can do it in less then 5 weeks if you have the right trainer. I upgraded in Fontana and the truck wait is 1-2 weeks. However, I only took 4 days off and went back to terminal they were going to fly me get a truck but then they had one in the shop that needed to go to the Salt Lake terminal. So tomorrow will drive the truck to Salt Lake and get my own truck there. So if you want to work they will work with you to get a truck as soon as they can, if you just sit around and wait for a call it will take longer. Your best bet is to upgrade in Salt Lake or GA if you can.

He was only with a trainer for 2 weeks. So he may need another 2 or 3 weeks with one.
Should not need the school stuff. Since I am pretty sure they both use basically the same videos.
