Tlingit35,
Opinions vary about Roadmaster. My current Instructor worked for Roadmaster and he told us some horror stories about them. But all locations vary widely, just don't end up being a "as-s in the class" for them. (As my Instructor worded so kindly). Community colleges are always a good option, might take alittle longer but the training is worth it!
Which School???

I would call every state vocational school within driving distance. In your situation I'm sure they will help you find a grant to cover part of the education, if not all of the related costs. It will be a good education and no ties to a company. I would call Scheinder and ask them who they recommend in your area.

Best of luck to you. I am also looking for a way into the industry. If you find anything worth looking into let us know!
...and keep your chin up. I am sure you and I will both be driving soon!

Check into WIA funding. The only thing Barack Ohblaablaa got right. That is how I paid for school.
Roadmaster is expensive. I have a friend that has to pay for 2 years. He is almost done doing that. -
Interesting Note, TDI Truck Driver Institute hasn't contacted me in over two weeks and none of the many applications that I filled out have gotten any respones from company recruiters. However, within hours of turning in applications with roadmaster I received two Conditional Pre-Hire emails and shortly after a third. I'm not that impressed with TDI recruiting, liked the recruiter, not bad looking either, but I'm more impressed with Roadmaster Recruiting, didn't care for the recruiter though, but he's getting results.....
