I have Verizon (VL600 usb modem)....I don't seem to have time to go over the 10GB's when I'm on the road...I also watch movies (NetFlix) on it, Skype with the family back home every night, get my oversize permits via email, etc., etc.

And even if you do go over a little...its only $10 per GB.

May not work for everybody, but I'd be lost without it...great service, great coverage....and SUPER fast when you find yourself in a 4G network area (more and more of them everyday)

I've been using the Samsung SCH-LC11 from Verizon.

Couldn't be happier with it, especially since it works as a router so didn't have to mess with setting it up for Linux like most of the USB ones. I only had to change some router settings to get a better consistent connection on Linux.

I was more worried about coverage than price of a plan or unlimited bandwidth. I get internet coverage better than cell phone coverage in places like Wyoming. My only complaint with it is there is no real meter to show it's charge level.

Same one I have, it is great now after fixing the issue where it turned itself off constantly and yes it picks up 3g even when my phone cannot. As for the charge I just keep it plugged into one of my 12v usb chargers when I'm using it but yeah it is a slight annoyance if you actually wanted to go portable with it.

Verizon is in the process of doing away with the unlimited plan and going to a tiered play which will be more expensive. The 'ol lady says many VZ customers are jumping ship. I've got the Revolution with wi-fi hot spot and always have a signal. We get a discount so I don't really know how many gigs I use. But she said when they move to the tier I'm gonna have to cut back. If I were to go with Sprint or T-mobile, VZW would send goons to break my legs.

My trainer got the new 4g card and hated it. Always dropped connection and would freeze up. He went back to his 3g. Plus you don't see a 4g area very often.

You definitely don't get it often but it's real nice when you do.

I have AT&T with a 5 gb plan. I've had AT&T phone since '94 so it fit with the plan.
Partner has grandfathered Sprint 3g unlimited card. Both work very well out on the road. When we want to download heavy files, we do it at home or use his card. :biggrin_25525:

It's not the fastest card there is but it works for what I need it to do (check e-mail and pay bills). I notice how slow it is when I go home and use the Verizon Fios internet. Of course I remember back in the mid 90's when I had "Prodigy" as an internet provider. I still remember them upgrading from 9600 bps to "Super High Speed 14,400 bps" !!!!!, Lol.
