You are right, that's crap!! An emergency is an emergency and she needs to get home.
-
Yup, sounds like BS to me. Hubby had a serious kidney infection over 1000 miles away from home once and the stupid dispatcher was only worried about him delivering his load. The ER wanted to admit him and wouldn't allow him to get back in the truck, so he had to leave the truck and take a bus home. Three weeks of sit time and recuperation before he could crawl back in a truck. Needless to say, he didn't go back to that company after getting better.
Good luck, keep us posted. -
Where ever she is - can she get a plane ticket to come home, the company probably is worried about her being stressed and wrecking. Maybe even a bus or another relative/friend going to where she is and picking her up - it would probably be in her best interest too. Good Luck and I hope everything is okay.

I heard there are rules FMLA anyone know about this???
-
Yes, she could use this, but has to be with the company for a year, and has to have the right paperwork from a doctor as well. So she has to go through the proper channels to get that.
-
You can request FMLA through the employer. I used it when my daughter had a tumor - they had to hold my job until I came back, but it won't help her get home.

I agree an emergency is an emergency!
Where I work we don't even hesitate at that word...THE driver is sent home quickly by either driving himself back to the terminal to pick his car up or he's given a ride by another truck driver back to the terminal.
THERE should be NO BS or any kind of excuse when it comes to this. -
UPDATE....
They are sending her home for the night whoopee. Seen the doctor today and he seems too think my sister had a stroke and also believes she has some bleeding on the brain, he will do another MRI asap to find out. He could not believe how much she has deteriorated over the last 3 weeks. She ask me where mom was, our mom has been gone for 5 yrs. Now you see why I need my sister home now. I just cant believe a company would do this to any driver. -
If she did have a stroke, and she could have gotten immediate help, they have a new drug that it administered that is a clot buster that minimizes damage. She should have gotten immediate attention for this, not three weeks of limbo!!!

Edit: So the sister that is coming home is not the sister that had the stroke? Right?
