I joined the forum looking for more information about the trucking industry.

Currently working at the PO delivering the mail. I'm worn out on the whole government mentality, and my body aches in the neck/shoulders area from walking unbalanced all day. Looking for a career change.

I don't want to get sucked in by a "bottom feeder" company, but I would like to have "paid CDL" training somehow.

I would appreciate any help/info. You all know infinitely more about trucking than I do. Thanks!

Right place, right time- Uncle Sam's going to trim down. Possibly 220,000 postal jobs worth of trimming down. Soon.

You had to pass some serious tests to get your current job, so you're already a winner. I would suggest you aim for a company that does mail contracts and trains new drivers. That leaves you pretty much with the big national carriers. Normally not a pleasant situation- but still probably less stress than you're already used to.

If you want that dedicated mail job, they'll train you and want you to work over-the-road for a few months or longer. Maybe more than a year. With some seniority and prior experience, you could be a candidate for that dedicated account.

    Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. More than likely, you have to look no further for information you need.

Yes, I am definitely looking for info. I even purchased a book written by a trucking veteran. I'm interested in making the switch from the post office, but I'm not diving right in without doing some research first.

    Gears Thanks this.
