My starter motor gave up and I could not start my truck, lucky another truck driver reversed his trailer up to the back of my trailer and gave me a push start, I was very greatfull and made my way to a auto electrician, got truck back on road today after $1100 bill for a new starter motor. Just thought i would share this info, that its nice there are still good souls around ready to jump in and help out.

That's cool. There's plenty of good people out there. I carried a logging chain just for that purpose.

If you are mechanically inclined, they make starter rebuild kits. They are a heck of alot cheaper and are easy to do.

It is funny that same thing happened to me on Friday last week in Butte, MT. I fueled, pulled forward and shut the truck off. I paid for fuel and the starter solenoid clicks was all I could get from my starter. Got a push start from another driver same way you did and was able to get home.

Things seem to be quite a bit more expensive in Austrailia. Ouch!

That should have come with a hug and a kiss.

A friend paid like $800 for an alternator with installation. Usually takes me longer to find the tools than it does to install the $200 alternator. I need to start a shop!:biggrin_2559:

    $1,100... I don't care if it's from a fat, greasy mechanic, I want a lot more than a hug & kiss.
