Theres a easier way to do it find a driver for hire comp like pro driver man power in state carers sod comp o/o small comps

It's not that easy I've talked to many company's and was told i have to start over. I was also told that my driving history is good and would hire me after i was re-trained.

 

Hey there JD...I am in the same boat with you! I made the mistake of giving up my CDL last year so I have to start over as well. Kinda shakin in my boots right now to proceed forward with all the stuff I know I need to. I have been a live-in care giver who has been supporting me also, and no employment for the past 3 years. I enrolled in school online, but I'm lookin at the huge amount of debt I will have when done and the pay won't be enough to pay it off before retirment age! So, I thought I would quit while I'm ahead and go back truckin.

 

Yep it really sucks having to start over. The reason im going with prime
is because they have better starting pay and in a year the training will be paid off. Just have to put up with 3 to 4 months of training. I hoping its a good company and will retire there. I do know there are other company's that pay alot more once my year is up and they will see i have past experience so there are options in the near future.

 

You need to be careful with Prime..I drove for them for 5 years, on both sides...company and lease operator. The main thing is (as with most companies) you need to live on the road and go where they say they need you. Since I have not been employed for 3 years, they probably would not consider me. I was in the same boat. Drove for 36 years, then 'retired' for two. Decided to come back. No one would consider me. It's an insurance driven issue. Insurance companies insist on drivers having a 'refresher' course.
I had not given up my cdl, but ended up going to school.
It's a pain in the butt, but it's what everyone requires.
