Does anyone know if I am west coast where I will be going for bootcamp? And those that are with con way do you like it. I have Werner swift covenant and Conway to choose from. I know im not going to Werner

I am wise and experienced enough to know not to believe everything I read on trucker forums, but I do read all of it. It's all part of the "feeling" I get about a company. So, here's an invitation to contribute! -
Con-way Truckload only has 1 terminal in Michigan and it is in Taylor (Detroit Area). There might be a few Con-Way Freight yards in Western Michigan though and those can often be used as approved parking locations and may even have loads that Truckload pulls from time to time (though most freight loads seem to go to teams due to their time sensitive nature). As far as going up near your house, I don't know how often you will go up there. My co-driver and I have not gone to Michigan in atleast 6 months but then again, we don't have passports so we can't take load to Canada which might be why. You will be required to get one though, if you don't already have one.
As far as schools, I have no clue what schools they work with up there but I know if you have a certain school in mind you can call and ask if it is a school they accept from. Bear in mind, any student who choose to go to any school besides Crowder College, which is the school Con-way will help pay for, has to attend a 1 week boot camp at Crowder along with orientation to be hired.
I have only been driving for Con-way for about 5 months but I rode passenger on one of their trucks for 2 years before that. I really enjoy it here and find them to be a good company to work for and even before I drove I was always impressed with how they treat drivers, how well they maintain the equipment, etc...
Feel free to post any questions you have here and I will try and answer and I'm sure some of the other drivers will help if I can't. You can also send me a PM if you would like. -
Katey, you are very helpful! See, this is what's important to me:
"I really enjoy it here and find them to be a good company to work for and even before I drove I was always impressed with how they treat drivers, how well they maintain the equipment, etc..." That is a whole lot more valuable insight for me than much of what I read. It seems that there is no "happy" driver in a truck anywhere, so when I get good information, I read. If I do have questions, I will ask you! -
Trainco Truck Driving School is just down the street from the Taylor Yard

Hello all, I have a few questions if someone can answer them for me it would be greatly appreciated.
1. Realistically what are newbie drivers getting for miles on average? Im not talkin about a newbie that wants to sit in truck stops all day either.
2.Does Conway TL offer tuition reimbursement?
3.What do you think a newbies first pay check would look like? I mean how much do you think they would be taking home on a slow week and on a good week or just average. I dont have any friends that work for conway so im just trying to find out some info on the pay.
4. Im in florida and ive seen quite a few conway trucks around and am curious if anyone on the forum that works for conway can tell me if they get 10 hours at home or resets at home ever? I know it probably doesnt happen often but wondering if it happens at all.
Thanks for any info Im just a newbie getting ready to start my career and im a money motivated person. Ive heard all the bad stories and some good about trucking and i still want to become a truck driver so i think i will enjoy this career i just gotta get my feet wet.
