Lol, no it's a 50 year thing. Once you reach 50, they violate you in all kinds of ways.

I think they secretly decommission you, then try to sell you Viagra.

It's just as important as a monthly breast exam for women. A few minutes of akwardness is a small price to pay for either a clean bill of health or early detection.

Actually, they have lowered it to 45 as a "strong recommendation ", then if they find polops they can clean them out and check you again in 2-5 years. If nothing is found you get 10.

OP: Don't ever become a firefighter. I had my personal yearly physical one month, DOT physical the next, and firefighter physical/ stress test the following month. All had me drop my drawers. If you can't handle a Dr. checking to make sure your ok, then you would never be happy driving a truck. Truckers HAVE to have thick skin to take all the crap they do. You have to honestly ask yourself if you can handle life on the road.

    Excellent point. :biggrin_25514:

Considering what I hear on the CB radio and see both on the road and in truck stops, I fear our O/P's delicate sensibilities may be damaged. Sheesh! Talk about immorality!

How's he going to handle the first approach by a lot lizard? Wish I could be a fly on the wall for that one...

Ignorant, but entertaining. You should be on television, not on the roads.

No less ignorant and entertaining than your idea it's immoral to have a hernia check, but not immoral to lie about it....by that, I mean find a doctor who doesn't know any better and "get by" with it.

A large part of the reason DOT is clamping down on this industry so hard is a group of folks who do what they can to "get by" regulations. You are no different.

DOT is a government agency, so they will always
be clamping down harder and harder and harder.
That's all they know how to do, quite frankly.

20 years from now DOT will be requiring you to
get a nude body massage before you're allowed
to take a trucking job in the private sector.

By the way, according to the Federal Motor Carrier
    Safety Administration, government employees
are exempt from these physical exams:
    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/topics/medical/faqs.aspx#question85

DOT will regulate truckers in the private sector to
death until they start standing up for themselves...
which doesn't seem to be happening. :biggrin_25513:

I genuinely feel badly for those who believe DOT
    exists "for our own good."

Aside from all that....its still a hernia check...and its still for your own good.

No guv'mint agency has ever been able to "legislate" anything than benefits everyone at the expense of none. In this point, sir, you are absolutely correct.

That said, we currently have a set of requirements we must live by, whether we like it or not. One of those requirements is men will not have hernias. Therefore, a hernia check is mandated. It's your turn to pay the price for your guv'mint. Next time, it might be mine and you will be telling me how ridiculous my position on a subject is.

Don't ya just love the old USA?
