Thank you both for the wise words and motivation. At this point we are getting ready to deliver tomorrow night and have had a nice couple of nights sleeping in a real bed without idleing the truck. As you said red (hehe that almost rhymes) we have done alot of work to the truck and things seem to be holding out again. As long as it lasts we should start seeing things lookup in the near future. It is a good feeling when you are getting phone calls from brokers wanting thier freight moved. It raelly almost makes me wish i had a couple more trucks moving lol.

Just finished with this thread also.....
This is one of the BEST stories I have read period!!!

I think I can relate to him allot more b/c he's just starting out and taking one day at a time. Also b/c he is not just some random guy telling you, "If you become an o/o you are destined for failure" but he explains( step by step) his transition from a dreamer to an actual true o/o.

Another note, I think allot of the vets. on this forum give great advise, I mean GREAT!! But it's not what you say, but how you say it. We as the newer class of o/o are very TITANIUM HEADED. (Lmao) We don't listen in other words... We are little kids that need guidance and disciplinary action for violation of your guidance! But I think if you want to get your messages through allot quicker and easier, give a little explanation to better support your opinion rather than blurt out any answer. (Don't get me wrong, you guys have definitely earned your right to say whatever the #%!! you want.) But to tell your child or children, " Don't touch that!!" (for example)... What happens everytime...lol. Consider us your little pre-owner operator children if I may.

Now as for jmc, please keep up the good work, stay positive, and we are all cheering for you!!!

Reminder, When the devil throws you a curve-ball, swing your Jesus bat!!
    God Bless and be safe...

Just re-read this thread myself. Kinda curious how Jmc is doing now, hope the lack of posts isn't bad news.

Well the lack of posts isn't bad news at all it just means we are busy. We have been having some mixed luck. So far it seems everytime we make a little money we have to fix something on the truck. On a good note though the fixes are steadily getting smaller and cheaper. Recently we have replaced the coolant sensor for 300 which 85 of that was for them to put the computer on it. We also found out that the truck only has about 700k on it so lots of life left. The computer also reads about 6.8 mpg. We have replaced all 8 drive tires and moved old drives to trailer after realizing one of my inner tires was a 11r22.5 making it wear out its pair really fast. The total cost to do that plus a oil change and full truck/trailer lube was right at 3k. We had the alignment checked and fixed which only cost us about 400 to do after the tires, they did have to replace the tierods though. Then we had an airbrake switch leaking so we replaced that. I replaced a leaking brake chamber myself for about 100. We have had and passed a lvl 1 inspection at a weigh station in California so that was good news. Other than that it has just been business as usual trying to make as much money as I can. To steal redformans term I played the Florida lottery yesterday and so we will deliver tomorrow then I don't know from there. Sorry i have not posted in a while, on a Sie note I am thinking of starting a blog of sorts called "Diary of an Atheist O/O" but can't decide if it would be better done on here or maybe on Facebook open to suggestions on that one. Anyway be safe out there and i will try to post more often.

Yes, please! Keep those posts coming. Great thread. If you are ever in Connecticut and need repairs or just a break, I live five minutes from both a CAT dealer and a Wal-Mart... and close to truck parts/repair shops. E-Z on/off either I84 or I91 (Newington) You and you wife (and cat!) are welcome for a hot shower and a home-cooked meal anytime.
