I am posting this in case someone has a delivery to the area
in or south of the New Orleans.
S.E. Louisiana & Hancock Co. MS
826 PM CDT Thu Sep 1 2011
Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect.
Inland flooding:
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area. See latest
forecast for latest information. Listen for possible flood
warnings for your location and be ready to act if flooding rains
occur.
Tropical depression 13 is going to be a very slow moving system
and this could lead to prolific rain totals over the next 5 days.
Heavy rainfall of 10 to 15 inches with locally higher amounts of
up to 20 inches will be possible across southeast Louisiana and
coastal Mississippi. Rainfall of this magnitude could produce
significant flash flooding across portions of the area rain bands
persist. Fortunately river levels are rather low and soil
conditions are rather dry so it will take some time to fill up
the basins.
Storm Surge & Storm Tide:
As Tropical Depression Thirteen approaches the coast there is
an increasing chance for combined storm surge and astronomical
tide waters up to 4 feet above mean sea level within areas closer
to the coast resulting in worst case flood inundation up to
1 to 3 feet above ground level somewhere within the surge zone.
The locations most likely to realize the greatest flooding will
be mainly along the east and southeast facing shorelines of St.
Bernard and Plaquemines parishes outside of hurricane protection
levees. This will also include Hancock County in Mississippi and
extreme southeast St Tammany Parish. Some low lying roadways may
become impassable due to high water
Winds:
As Tropical Depression Thirteen approaches sustained tropical
storm force winds are expected only along the immediate coast at
this time early Saturday afternoon. The majority of the tropical
storm force winds will be associated with gusts produced by
squalls. Maximum winds are forecast to be in the 30 to 40 mph
range with gusts to 45 mph.

I cant find a parish map of South East Louisiana so will just post a map that I already have. It does not show the parishes but will show the main Highways, and Interstates in the area. Btw... We live in Sorrento and it is marked on this map.

LaKitten Thanks this. -
Well if it goes over the path that they showed in the video it will pass right over us! But that will probably change some. It has been raining here off and on since last night. I went out to a couple of local stores awhile ago and they are posting notices on all the public buildings around here as to where you can go to get sand bags. Uck... not good news but I am glad they are preparing stuff.
We live in a mobile home and are 3 1/2 feet off the ground and wont flood. But the surrounding property probably will flood some. There is a small bayou about 50 ft behind our place and it is fairly full now. Also lots of swampy land near by. My patio floods evertime we get a decent rain so I am glad I have some boots!
Wayne is on the road and was supposed to deliver in Fort Smith Arkansas this morning. But I havent heard from him yet. That is about a full days drive from here. Hoping he gets home soon. He will need to haul the generator out of the shed just in case of power failer.
BTW.... If anyone has a delivery down here and needs to know more about road conditions feel free to PM me and ask.Last edited: Sep 2, 2011
