No, commercial trucks can NEVER use a radar detector. It is against the DOT rules. Cars CAN (in most states), but commercial trucks cannot.
-
So True! Have a couple of truckers here licking their wounds from the very large ticket they got from the DOT trying that.
-
I have heard O/Os talk of using them, they just hadn't been caught I suppose. Seems to risky to me though.
-
MOST Scale Houses have "Detector" detectors. They can "see" them even if they are turned off or unplugged.
-
Actually, it would be impossible to detect them if they are off or unplugged. They are not emitting anything that can be detected then, such as radio waves.damonarnold816 and Tb0n3 Thank this.

That is the truth...UNLESS it is sitting on the dash as you stroll through the weigh station...

Texas the fine is or was $90. use your c.b. instead. as they say no bear is ever lost 'cause every driver keeps an eye on him
-
People everywhere keep saying "use your CB" but in my experience not many drivers warn you of cops anymore, even when i warn others i rarely get even an acknowledgement let alone a thanks !!!!!!damonarnold816, swervyjoe and Jeck Thank this.

Then you deserve the ticket.
