Notice the ad does not say ND. Driving jobs up here pay much more. Average $80K.

Has anyone seen any Schneider trucks hauling crude in ND...?? They are all over down in Texas driving down the rates. Hiring newbies and school grads promising $48,100/yr. Just wanna get the word out to EVERYONE NOT to drive for Schneider. There are plenty of other companies that will pay much better for the same #### work. Got this from a poster on Craigslist...

"Schneider National is advertising on Craigslist looking for drivers in the Eagle Ford oilfield. They are only paying 40K-50K per year. Don't support low wages by working for these guys. You can make 80K a year doing the same work, working for someone else. Schneider National destroyed freight rates in the early 90's, thereby depressing driver's wages. Don't support this behavior and allow them to ruin our great pay here in the Eagle Ford Shale. Say NO to cheap labor and say NO to Schneider!!!

To all you trucking school graduates: You too can get the higher paying jobs if you only take your time and do your research. Everyone is hurting for drivers and it's only going to get worse. I've been in trucking for 18 years and I've never seen a drivers market like this. Drivers have the upper hand on these ########! Don't work for peanuts!! Go get a real paying job, it's out there, and it's not at Schneider National!!!!

Attention Schneider: Keep flagging my posts if you want to. I'll just keep re-posting. We (drivers) aren't going to allow you to ruin the rates like you did in the freight business in the 90's, there is no need for it!! There's plenty of money out here for everybody. Quit destroying rates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And apparently Schneider does keep flagging this poster because he had put up over a dozen different postings similar to this one and they all got taken down. I'm happy to repost and do my small part in fighting the large carriers from driving down our pay.

On the surface ( just from reading their ad) what they have going for them is hiring new trucking school graduates with tuition reimbursement package. So far, I have seen only one company that only requires 6 months driving experience to be employed driving in the oil fields. Most have 1-2 yrs. requirement. And a good many want 1 year tanker exp.

Lot of folks looking for the answer to no experience and apparently that is what Schneider is targeting. Pay less and yes maybe drive down prices. One other company in same area offering $55K to haul crude. That in Texas. Quite a bit less than prices I have been seeing quoted in ND. Even down here lately.

Some will probably do that for first year to get the experience and move on if anyone else still able to pay better.

Not a job for newbies. We were out that way hauling spuds fromt hat area back to the eastern part of the state. The trucks are basically stacked up like cord wood out there. The traffic was terrible. Most the trucks I seen were litteral junk traps rolling down the road.

There was a big safety push out there just recently. 1 in 5 trucks inspected were put out of service for serious issues. Yes 1 in 5 of the trucks had serious enough issues to were they were put out of service. Issues like cracked frames etc. I heard that there were many equipment violations handed out also.

I wouldn't doubt it...the trucks driving around western ND are not especially well maintained and they drive over some of the roughest roads there are.

Rat just curious of why you think its not for newbies? Im a newbie and im not trying to bite off more than i can chew so im just looking for some insight. Ive found some companies where there driving a straight truck doin excavation or something and it didnt sound bad. I will be doin my homework tomorrow when i call all these companies up there but just curious about your statement is all.

I definitely do not want to do that kind of work. It sounds awful. Pay looks good, but consider what your lifestyle would be like working up there if youre not from ND. Yuck

I was a complete newbie in North Dakota and I've had no troubles (other than traffic sucks and the roads are rougher than hell). I was born and raised in North Dakota though, so I guess that could make a difference. Someone moving here might have some troubles. I actually love the North Dakota lifestyle...but as you said...probably would suck for a person not from here.

as long as you are not dependent on having big city nightlife its not that terrible as some make out. yes the roads are gravel not ashphalt interstates but they are no worse i'm sure than the goat trails we have in western canada going in to an oil lease. yeah been there done that, roads with mandatory full tire chain and hook up to the tow cat before you even go in. instead of 600 mile days your day is maybe 50-100 miles, ND is a wee tiny little oil puddle. our range of territory in Canada covers from Minot west to glacier national park and as far north as the north west territories.
