I have not worked for Big G, but I have spoken with several of their drivers and without exception they seem to like it there. I myself had some pains with my current employer of 1 year, but in time I have come to expect that there will be good days and bad, there will be slow freight periods and times of plenty. And, as I can attest, attitude will dictate much in how problems are solved. Having learned this and much more, and given the feedback that I have received in the past 3 months regarding Big G, I am looking at applying at Big G. If/when I do I will keep this thread updated on how things progress.
On another note, I have learned with my present employer that good companies have bad dispatchers, and I would assume bad companies have good dispatchers. Add to the mix the good and bad driver attitudes and there is a recipe for unhappiness when the wrong mix is made. Try to be diplomatic and clear, if that doesn't work ask for a new dispatcher. My attitude had kept me from enjoying this work for a while. Now, experience with the industry and understanding the companies' expectations,as well as my attitude, make it more enjoyable. If I do go with Big G it will be because of the demographics to my home; only 30 miles away and their hometime is good. If I don't go , I am much happier where I am than I used to be; and attitude has made the difference.robbyd23 Thanks this. -

If you are looking for a good company with good benefits that include medical benefits, you do
"NOT"
want to stop here!! You get sick before your one year anniversary and you are out of luck. They will cancel your health insurance before you get out of the hospital. They are always hiring drivers, always! Why?? I regret the day I ever signed on with them!
Praise GOD I did not have to stay any longer than I should have. Cancer looks good on the outside while it kills you on the inside!

I worked for them a few years back for a little over a year. They give a mileage increase of 1/2 cent each 6 months. Equipment is excellent and if you scratch it they notice and then it's a trip to safety. APU's/1500W Inverters on trks. Fuel bonus paid every 3 months. East coast runs 98%. Scale of 1 to 10 on company..."7"
Hope this helps. Just give me a shout if I can be of further assistance. -
Big G is not a company anybody with a bit of self respect wants to work for. They have all the put on stories about friends and family. When the time
Comes you need their family they will dump you and act like they don't know you. I went into the hospital June 19th for what I suspected was a heart attack. When I got out of the hospital 4 days later, I found out they cancelled my health insurance effective June 17th. They cancelled everything else and acted like they were best friends. The forced me into Cobra to get my bills paid all the while acting like they were concerned for my well being. That cost me over $500 but they say we are family and friends. With friends like that who needs enemies? They did this to me to keep from paying my bills because they are so called self insured. If anybody is looking for a good company with good benefits, don't stop here. They will not keep you around much longer than 11 months to keep from paying you profit sharing money.
They will work you to death and pay you .33 per mile to start but they will work you 14 hour a day to get it. With a half cent pay raise every year, it will take you 13 years to get top pay at .40 cents. You can get home most weekends and that is what attracted me to them. They will stress you out to get you back on the road before you even get a restart. Then you run out of hours on the road and not pay you anything for sitting. They are not your friend. You would be better off going to bed with rattlesnakes. At east you know you are going to get bit!! Big G looks good on the outside, but is cancer on the inside.
The talk a pretty story, but that is all it is. Be careful in whom you ask about going to work with them. Big G has constantly got another driver referral contest going on to hire 'more' drivers. Question: If Big G is so great to work for, why are they always and constantly looking for more and more drivers? In the contests, they give prizes including a new Ford Pick up truck. They will pay $500 referral and you may get it if the new hire stays around long enough. I have talked to several drivers who said they never got their rewards. I wasn't careful enough and I regret the day I ever went to work for them. In my 11 months I never thought they were good enough to recommend to anybody. Even for the prize of $500 and a new truck. As far as I go, I would not give them even a grade '3' on the scale of 10. I despise liars and abusers of goodwill. The only good thing about them may be the equipment, but that is all!!!!!!!Last edited: Sep 5, 2011
