The more I work for these bigger companies, the more dumb crap I experience... Celadon. I am driving up I-81 and my driver's side wiper arm decides it has had enough. It is pouring rain here and it's expected to rain for the next couple of days.#
I pull into a Petro because I can't see where I am going. A work order is started and road maintenance has been notified. The maintenance department from Celadon contacts Petro, "tell the driver to go to the nearest International dealer as this is a recall". Petro tells Jeri in maintenance that it is pouring outside and the driver won't be able to see. Jeri's response, "send him anyway".#
I call safety and contact my DM, both say do not move the truck. Maintenance (jeri) comes back with, "we need to get the truck to the dealership". With the storms passing through this area in the last couple of days, the forecast is for hard rain and storms for the next few days.#
Jeri from maintenance insists that I hold up at the Petro for as long as it takes in order to get the truck to a dealership. I am under a load that was supposed to deliver tonight and now that has to be rescheduled. I probably won't see a dime for waiting the storm out for the next few days. According to this Jeri, International HAS to do the work because it is a recall. Petro says they can order the parts from International and send the defective parts back for reimbursement.#
Instead of getting the work done within a couple of hours, Celadon's little pet Jeri insists that the driver sit for how ever long it takes for the rain to clear. Jeri suggests that I take the passenger's side wiper off and install it on the driver's side. Gee Jeri, won't this void your warranty?#
It is not just the wiper blade, it is the arm and the spindle that comes out of the motor, so it's not a simple fix. Apparently this Jeri doesn't give a crap about the drivers safety or pocket book.#

Welcome to the world of the big trucking company. Didn't realize they were that stupid though. Some of their maintenance guys are not the brightest bulbs in the box.

The maintenance department told me this morning that he has checked the radar for the Carlisle, PA area and that the rain should be moving out soon. With hurricane Katia, tropical storm Maria and Lee hitting the Eastern Atlantic, it has rained non stop today and it is supposed to continue through the weekend. They are trying to put the burden on me to drive in the rain. I guess they think that if I have to sit long enough without a load than eventually I will try to risk the drive to the dealership. This is when I wish I could win the lottery and walk away from their "I don't give a crap about the driver" company.
