My hubby's family is from a small village near Sibiu, Arpas de jos (sp?) in Transylvania. Looks like you were a little further north and west. From the pics I have seen of that area of Romania, it looks like it's beautiful.

Lilbit it is beautiful.worth to see..but unfortunately almost everybody is corrupt there which is sad.that's one of the reasons I left

I think that is true of lot of former eastern europe, the changes afer perestroika came too fast for people to adjust, and some took advantage of the confusion.
I've not been to Romania, though I travel in Europe a lot, and have friends in Russia and Poland that I visit now and again : ) -
We've heard about a lot of the corruption from some of his family members that have more recently moved to the US. We are hoping to get over there one of these years.

Just remember that the cops can confiscate your car for 'offences', whether they were real or imagined. And strangely they tend to confiscate the newer foreign cars, never the trabbies : )

lol...i think you've been watching too many movies.Nobody can and will confiscate your car,but they would expect you to bribe them

I saw it happen in Russia a couple of times, maybe it doesnt happen in other eastern countries?

I've never heard that before,at least not Romania or Hungary.Stolen cars yes,confiscated-never heard.
