1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

True , that's stated in the link . But there are also many expedite cargo have haulers with hazmat endorsements . The regulations can be illogical . They assume they vehicles have less than 1/4 tank of fuel . I once read a post by a hauler pulling a large boat that had to keep it at the scale until he found a hauler with a hazmat endorsement because the boat's fuel tanks contained 120 gallons of fuel .

That's all right . Many people also thought the same . By bringing it up you help get the actual facts shown . There are a lot of regulations misinterpreted . The more that are questioned the better .

Yes you just gotta know where to look and book loads. Most hotshot guys use uship.com and also centraldispatch.com for auto transports.I use uship but its an auction style web site and you place a far bid and someone else who has no legal DOT or MC numbers come in and out bid you by hundreds of dollars cheaper! Also uship DOES NOT CHECK TRANSPORTERS so about 60% of transporters on there are iilegal haulers.Central dispatch does do back grounds check and only allows legal haulers. There may be other web sites but those 2 are the only ones I know of.

Cars are too cheap on Uship to even mess with. Central barely pays enough the way it is.

If you want to get into this, find out what your insurance is going to cost you first. Most people change their mind after they find out what the insurance will cost.

Everything that is shipped there is for the most part. I know a couple of people who have been pulling from there with no legal papers and have never been bothered.

I use to haul cars and I never had anything posted on the side of my truck. I was legal and was fully insured and had my DOT number and everything. 100K in cargo ins and a million liability. If I had a better trailer I would of been ok but mine was to small and it was always going through a tire. With a good truck and a good trailer money can be made. I personally would rather have a single axle tractor with say a 40 foot or so flat gooseneck behind it. Pickups are nice and all but in a big truck you have more power, room, a bed, and just more reliable especially when your pulling say 20K pounds.

I wouldn't know about cars cuz I don't haul cars,I use uship to tow boats.I have cargo insurance up to $100,000.00 but I don't pick up to many jobs on uship.com.About 60% of those loads are just window shoppers with no intent to ship there cargo/boat whatever.I never used central dispatch so I wouldn't know.
