I dont count the time I worked in custody as being on the streets. 18 years of patrol 4 years custody division. Been driving 5 years as of next week., haven't updated profile yet..anything else you wanna try to pick apart? I'm not writing an FN book with case law reference. I was just sparking thought for others for the sake of conversation, and maybe even to 'stir the pot' a little.
And NO! I didn't retire for Mark Twaining reports. I retired for reasons of my own. Like, I was ready to move on to another career after years of BS. I'm not Twaining drivers on the posts, nor is that my intention. If I see a post that I can offer some advice to then I will, if someone doesn't like it or want it, fine, it's their right, such as yours.
Yes, when I went through the academy the 4th was only covered in a few hours, I believe it's up to 10 hours now. It takes more hours to become a hair stylist than a cop. As far as my function as a deputy, I was a corporal and I was in the field for a little more than 18 years...18.7 to be exact. I was assigned to an array of duties, Detective Bureau, Boat patrol, Bicycle patrol, Field training officer (12 years), SWAT (5 years), school resource officer, range master and firearms instructors..so those were my duties as a deputy. Hope this answers your question. Also, I did make reference to California law and that laws are different in other states, but the Implied Consent Law is the same in most, if not all states. And the Trombetta Law as it applies to the validity of a chemical test.
I also advised that drivers should never drink and drive. Don't people read things anymore? And I never said disrespect the police either. I made reference to know your rights and don't let government bull you over. Thank you for pointing out what I didn't say. Hope this was straight enough for ya. Take care and no hard feelings my friend!

Continue to ignore me mister...jump around me posts...
But my question still stands...
explain to me how your 'profiling' would of prevented this?
http://www.allvoices.com/contribute...ands-shooting-gunman-kills-five-in-dutch-mall
And or the 69 body count massaquere that occured earlier in the summer at a youth camp in the Netherlands...
I want you to respond to me....
I want you to explain some things to me about 'profiling'... -
I remember once when I was 20 a cop pulled me over and asked to search my vehicle and I was like sure go ahead! My car was spotless clean and they looked disappointed that I didn't have anything illegal. I do not get involved with drugs or anything.

You might really want to reconsider your statements.
You are not up to date on each and every state's nuances of laws.

Same thing happened to me in NM several years ago.
Drug cop wanted to search my truck.
I told them they were wasting my time and theirs.
They insisted and I told them that as long as they didn't trash my truck to knock themselves out.
They did not think it was funny that when they got done and told me to leave I told them "I told you so".NewNashGuy Thanks this. -
I will be very interested in following this through the courts. It may take years, but this will surely end up in front of the Supremes.Brickman Thanks this.

They have been doing the no refusal weekends here in Texas for years, follow this if you want but don't be surprised if nothing changes.Brickman and lonewolf4ad Thank this. -
I'd like to see it explored by the courts.
Like MT I don't expect it to go any where tho.
You won't be reading about me in the paper because I no longer drink and drive. That was prior to my days of having a CDL. Or at the very least using it for work.
I am ashamed of some of things I did, but I no longer do it.
I never got caught tho. I wised up on the expense of others. -
Refusing any kind of drug or alcohol test is a automatic fail. A LEO doesn't need a warrant to arrest and charge you with a DUI. Whether or not this would hold in court is a different story, but that won't stop the LEO from making the arrest.

I say they are doing their job. If you're clean, then let them have a go at it and tell you sorry for the inconvenience when they don't find anything. It's typically the guys that are skimming along the edge of the law line that have the most problems with police.
Be law abiding and you won't have a problem. We need the police out there to protect our families from the gang bangers, thieves, rapists and robbers. They don't know your the good guy until they check you out. If there was a big sign over everybody's head distinguishing the good from the bad guys it would be easy.
I'm for whatever it takes the police to make their job easier and to make as many stops as it takes till the criminals are all gone......
