Well, the dump truck job I was suppose to have did not pan out, so I am back looking for work again in the Lower Mainland of BC.
Can anyone tell me about Challenger, more so someone who already runs for them? I don't want anything to do with going all over the place anymore, I am hoping to find a set run.
The ideal situation would be a set run from Vancouver to Edmonton, or Vancouver to Saskatoon. It keeps me close enough to home to still have a life, and it keeps the lady happy enough to not leave either!
How is the pay, dispatchers, heavy loads/light loads, any good set runs?
Thinking pretty serious about buying my own again, but I would drive one of theirs if I could get one of the Peterbilts. Not a Volvo or Freightshaker fan.

They do some heavy load out there, reefer tridem. I don't know much about regular run, one thing is that all the official dedicated run have been abolish so they can have greater flexibililty from the Drivers, yeah b/s.
So I don't know where you work now but you should think twice before meking a move at cmf. One very last thing we are under a Teamsters campaign to have Teamsters on board at cmf, we are tired that management dicide to cut in our salary an working conditions!
Good luck! -
Tank....talk to some of their B.C. based drivers if you can. You won't get a solid reply around here.

Mule's answer was a no BS answer.
Not politicaly correct but based on experience of what is realy going on there.Mule Bleue Thanks this. -
Ratfink and Mule Bleue where part of the group trying to get the union in at Challenger, so their comments won't be very favourable.

I always said that, and I do mean it.
I remember dispatchers working with you and communicating very well and you could make good miles.
Now??? it's just another large carrier just like schneider, jb hunt etc and like any other large carriers, driver is just warm meat holding the steering wheel.
All this union thing started because of a few clowns in dorval managment.
Maybe in vancouver things are better, I dont know, but in dorval, managment attitude is crap. And by the way, clowns are still pizzing off drivers with their arrogance and insignifiant little power trip.
IF you take the time to read what I've been saying, or look at a very long thread made about challenger and union, you will see that I asked over and over how could we change things in OTR? or did someone had any other way to make thing better instead of whining in different forums like I've been reading for years.
Sorry no BS, this is the way things are.
If you think I'm exagerating? no big deal but just ask yourself "why is the turnover so high?"Mule Bleue and snafutoo Thank this. -
