starting at schneider

Heading to Fontana monday morning 9/19. First driving job (class A anyways). I plan to chronicle the training process here.

oh and hello to you all. been reading here for a while but just joined.

 

Thanks. Hopefully I get a good TE.. so far the schedule is supposed to be 4 days of class, 7 with my TE, and another 3 in class. Then home to get my own truck.
Also I am on the western 11, hopefully I get some pointers on driving the passes (mainly Raton) out in Colorado before hitting them in the winter.

 

The only pain so far was having to redo my DOT physical because my thyroid meds weren't listed on the long form.

 

Well I am at the hotel now. 11:45 pm on monday, left home at 8 this morning. 6 hour drive plus a broken cv and wheel bearing equals an extra 10 hours today. fun fun. Tomorrow I have my pre work screen and then chill for the rest of the day. Wednesday the real fun begins.

 

So we had the pre-work screen yesterday..... no prob there. Today the real fun begins. 0530 sitting in the OC waiting for class to begin.

 

Day one in the books. Spent the morning doing all the paperwork etc.. This afternoon was spent on backing practice and about 45 minutes of road time(each). So far all the instructors have been super helpful and friendly. We are driving a freightliner century, has 800xxx miles but seems to be really well maintained, as do the rest of the fleet trucks I saw in the yard.
We will be in class/driving until saturday with a road test then, and sunday or monday head out with our trainers for 7 days.
