Thanks Jarhed, i used to own my own business although it was'nt trucking related. I think most business princibles should carry over to anything, i mean no matter what your doing the main idea is to make a profit, the more the better, lol. I have missed owning my own business, and am realy looking forward to being a part of the family here.![]()

Awesome! Someday, I hope to join you!
Just out of curiosity, what business did you run in the past?grannylane and BigR Thank this. -
A glass business in northern California. I was a sub-contractor out there before the market went to hell and they quit building houses, held on as long as i could ( hindsight a little too long ) then lost everything. Like a lot of people i figured, ill go drive a truck that'll solve all my problems, lol!
Jarhed1964 and The Challenger Thank this. -
Jarhed, who you drivin' for now? For some reason i thought you were already at JCT.

Not driving right now. Got out in July of last year to run my Ins Brokerage full time. I love the money, but I can't help but to stare at trucks.

This is an addiction, and I guarantee I'll be back in the seat at some point. I'm just making a bunch of money right now as a broker and have an 8-year old to spank.... I mean be around for at the moment. But once I get a few bucks put away, and the demon-seed is old enough to run around without getting arrested, I'm back out there. It's inevitable.
Obviously, when I do go back, it'll be to eventually run my own gig. Being that I have messy credit right now, I'm going to have to lease with JCT or do a Lone Mountain purchase to get going after a year at another reefer carrier.
(I just ran down the road to a truck stop six miles the wrong way to get coffee after an appointment. What does that tell ya?)BigR and scottied67 Thank this. -
#### you're not driving here yet and already got the hang of things
jct needs more guys like you now....
BigR and grannylane Thank this. -

BigR said: ↑I did the same thing. Exec position in SoCal, wife laid off in March, me laid off in May. Figured I'd find something quick, having all those contacts I did. Everyone was contracting. Figured it would take me longer than I figured, and I had always wanted to drive truck, so I'd give that a shot while littering the planet with resume's. No bites on the resume, but found out that I liked trucking more than I thought I would. Pretty much blew through my 401k trying to pay for that house in SoCal and support the family, so I walked away from it. It's gonna burn for a while, but I went back to working for myself for a little bit here until I'm stable enough to get back in a truck, and I feel comfortable enough to leave the boy at home for 5 weeks or so at a time.Jarhed1964 said: ↑This was one of the things that first drew me to JCT. After strugling to hold on to my glass business for over a year after the market tanked, i was tapped out. I lost my home was unable to pay bills, wrecking my once good credit score for quite a while. A lot of people have negitive things to say about all lease deals, even if they don't know the details of it. How many times have we heard " save a down payment and buy your own truck, is the only way to make it". Well, that's just not an option for everyone, but that does'nt mean you can't still make a living and be working toward owning your own truck. I've done a lot of homework on JCT and feel confident i've made the right choice. Hope to see ya soon Jarhed.Click to expand...
I will be coming to JCT, that much is clear. The thing that convinced me are the miles available and the drivers here (and in truckstops) that I've talked to that have paid off one or more trucks there. Talked to a guy about six months ago who was on his fifth. Hook, line and sinker!
