More Here
BHW comments: Drivers, this seems to be a common theme here in the mid west. Not to many months back a woman did the same thing in Des Moines.
My thoughts and prayers are going up for this driver, and the family of the man that decided to take such drastic measures.![]()

And that driver is going to have a very hard time of it for quite awhile if not forever.
bullhaulerswife, TruckrsWife, mtnMoma and 4 others Thank this. -
Some very good comments on the article. Of course this is the only news station that is reporting it this way. Hubby was stuck in this mess for 2 hours yesterday.

There are some very good comments there. Typical media . . . at least one source chose to report the reality.

A few years ago a drunk in Rapid city was run over by a train and came out the end with a broken arm but still alive. A few weeks later he stepped out in front of a car and was killed. My guess is that the train incident was a suicide attempt that didn't work so he tried again this time successfully.

The driver and family will be scarred for life. Depression or bad health can push one over the edge. If you are going to kill yourself, do it by yourself.

This reminds me of the time a friend and myself were sitting at a train crossing 2nd car from the "gate" and a lady walked onto the tracks and just looked at the train as it came, she is alive because it was in town (back in Wisconsin) and the conductor did everything he could to stop the train, I have never seen the wheels lock up on a train before. There are some nights were I see it happen in my mind, I can not imagine what the driver of that train or what the driver of truck are going through and what they will go through in the future. I hope that the driver does realize that this is not his fault and if needed seeks help with dealing with the emotional scars from this incident.

I have a local friend that had a doped up ex-cop come across the median and hit him head on. He told me about the eye contact they had with each other and some other details. This is about 10 years later and he still doesn't like talking about it. You mention it and you can see the pain inside him. Nobody should have to go through that.
bullhaulerswife and Lilbit Thank this. -
Condo I had a Fatal accident 15 Years ago and I still replay the freaking thing in my head at night sometimes. I still see the family of 4 stopped in front of me that I missed when I got hit. Trust me IT WILL NEVER GO AWAY. Every june 24th the day it happened my wife still has to hold me tight to stop me from screaming my head off.
