One of the trucks I am interested in purchasing has some rust on the engine. Granted, it is 5 years old with 500k, but I am not used to seeing this kind of surface rust. Everything else on this truck looks great. It was a former Star Transport truck.

I think that's a sign of having sat for a while. You may have to replace the idler and tensioner pulleys on that thing.

Lots of winter running in salt country, without the engine being washed.

Man that looks like it was never washed off. Not even my dad 99 that had been in these harsh salt winters in michigan looks like that. His doesnt have any corrosion or rust on the block. The chasis on the other hand has some rust problems. I would move on to another truck if possible as that might cause more problems.

This particular truck has been sitting on the lot since 8/06.
Is this a bad thing? -
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there any reason you are tied to a Freightshaker????
Why not a KW T600?

Well, the Freightliner dealership is down the street from the terminal
#2: They have like 200 trucks to choose from.
#3: They have already pre-approved me for $38,500.
I am going to have more to choose from tomorrow. See, I noticed their website has prices around $4,000-$8,000 less than the inventory sheet I got after hours at the dealership. So, alot of the trucks that I thought were out of my league are obtainable. I have yet to talk to anyone in person yet. Tomorrow, I will meet with them to see what choices I have. -
If they are the first place you've tried for a loan don't take their deal without shopping around to check your options.

K, thanks.

Well, I bought one without the rust.
