I know all about it. I left right before Stan dropped the mileage pay for the drivers. I can't work for a company that singles out ALL driver pay as a way to reduce company costs. Stan didn't lower office salaries. He didn't reduce the number of trucks or trailers first. Drivers left because he dropped the pay. It's simple math, stop leasing as many trucks and trailers and the cost goes down, less drivers means more available loads. Get rid of the dead wood that is lazy and doesn't want to make a real living driving. What you have left are aggressive workers that want to make miles, want to be profitable, want to deliver the frieght and get the next load. It will only then be a profitable company with happier drivers.
Sad, but Stan and many other trucking company presidents don't understand this. They just look at numbers without seeing how those numbers can be produced. Also, many don't examine really sucessful businesses because they feel intimidated (mostly because it proves that they've been wrong). -
Crisco Britches, again you are so right those dispatchers he has now they are pitful all around JERKS,and they talk about him like you wouldn't believe, they have a new HR Lavender Larry is i think what they call him,it's so funny he has his office next the lounge so he can hear what the drivers talk about, how strange is that.I heard that after Feb that Bridgestone may not let them pull anymore of their loads. They just want the drivers to bust butt and get the loads there and then set for hours waiting on a load.Oh well Stan doesn't care he should know how it works but he just don't care.

I pulled a Bridgestone load down to the DC by the DFW airport for Stan once and a load was supposed to be ready for me to haul back 3 hours later. It wasn't (oh big surprise). The guard told me to check in 3 hours. So I parked. Then 3 hours more, and 3 more. After the 3rd time, I told him I was going to go off site and sleep and Bridgestone can contact Beacon so they can send me a Qualcomm message that the load is ready. I also gave the guard my cell number. No call. No Qualcomm. I got a good sleep, then Bridgestone was all pissed that I didn't haul the load when I got there. The lied to Beacon saying it was ready all the time.
Too bad they didn't realize I was sending Qualcomm messages to Beacon with names of whom I taked with and the messages have timestamps on them. Bridgestone got so pissed that they told Stan that I wasn't allowed to come back to that DC. Okay by me - with having me sit so long and lieing, who needs to haul to that DC?
I'm not surprized that Stan has a HR person listening in on the driver's lounge. Both myself and my friend in NC that left Beacon when I did can't understand how Stan is still operating. We knew that they extended the PM service intervals to double the period and haven't told Volvo. I bet they'd love to know that. -
I drover for beacon over the winter and never had a problem telling dispatch I was going to be late due to bad roads and weather. They had the same respose every time, " ok keep us posted." They didnt try to get me to drive when I told them it was unsafe. It is ultimatly the drivers call, if you are dumb enuff to let them convince you that you should go, well that's on you.

Update on Beacon Transport. Summer of 2010 they settled out of court on a class action suit brought on by 8 drivers. Beacon was putting false information on their DAC reports. Mostly it was accident/incident reports that were complete lies. I checked my DAC and it was clean.
If a company wants try to ruin people's career just because they've decided to move on, it's pretty obvious that they shouldn't be trusted from the start. -
Drivers stay away from BEACON,their no good...they have a really HIGH turn over rate, ole Stan even bought more trucks so he could keep drivers hired,so he would have enough drivers to run his freight,,,if you don't have a TWIC card they fire you,if you can't get it.BEACON wants to sit their drivers all day and run them all night, dispatchers are horrible Keith and George,,,,run off more drivers looks like ole Stan would wake up and get them out of there, then he might have a good company again, heard they keep a guy out and made him miss his daughters school function, and of course he was under Keith, which told him he had freight to move,,,what a jerk,,,trucks only run 65 mph, even Swift passes them..

Crisco,
Can you provide a link to that court case.
Just to make sure, that it's not just a rumor.
Thanks -
You could do much worse then Beacon. No company is perfect and neither is Beacon but if you do your job you can make miles and get home.

From my gathering you 2 are some sniffling cry babies who want some thing to cry about. I am working for Beacon Transport right now. Matter as fact my third time here. Spent 2 years here one time and a year and half the second. Been back the a month now. Its a great company to work for if you ask me. As for your lies I want to call each and every one of you out on them. A 8 driver lawsuit out of court. Didnt happen. My Dac was never screwed up by them before. As for sitting. You do from time to time. But you gotta remember each dispatcher has 80 trucks. Do you keep on them to find you a load. I have never seen a personal car in the shop of an employee. And those 3 mechanics bust their butts keeping up with the equipment. You only go to Volvo because the shop is to backed up to handle it. You forgot to mention that weekend dispatch is done by the owner of the company Stan. You also forgot to say that he really does care about his drivers. I have had few times where dispatch said they had no load for me. After 5 hours I will call Stan and he will find me a load in 5 minutes. When I came back this time. Stan himself gave me the keys to a new truck. With no recaps! Never heard of em selling new tires. Not to mention I worked here during the times the both of you did. And never heard of what you both claim. My experience with them has been good all 3 times. Beacon is like other trucking companies out there. You let em walk over you and take advantage of you. They will. I say if your experience was bad. It was your fault.
