Hmmmm, so much BS in this guys post I'm not sure were to start. First, Crete has APU's. Secondly, if he reported that his APU wasn't working or if he had a truck that didn't have one, which is possible if it was an old truck, he would not be forbidden from idling with his sick daughter in the truck. If his daughter was so sick, he made a poor choice to have her in the truck in the first place.
Finally, Crete discriminating against disabled people is not even worthy of being dignified with an actual response.

I thought Crete had APU's.
To the OP:
~ You should have never taken your daughter with you in the truck.
~ You don't qualify for unemployment with a voluntary quit. You can only get unemployment if you got terminated or laid off.
~ If your truck had a APU, why would you idle?
~ The heck with company policy and state idling laws. If it's 90+ degrees and your truck doesn't have a APU, idle that SOB. My company looks down on idling also, but IMO driver comfort is more important than fuel savings.Nycmex77, kid_cardiac and Ops85 Thank this. -
I'm idling right now. Company dosen't like it, but screw 'em.THBatMan8 Thanks this.

IMO, it's like Earth Hour. When everyone turns off the lights for that hour, I turn on and run everything in the house. Computers, microwaves, etc. Everything electric runs on that hour.
Ops85 and kid_cardiac Thank this. -
Wow people never cease to amaze me.
First and foremost it is a violation of the law to discriminate against a person with a handicap.
Second of all your daughter was and is not an employee of Crete.
Third I'm sure there is checks that must be made before a passenger is authorized to ride with.
Fourth they are NOT forcing you NOT to idle. Just cause they say you need to be at the required idle % doesn't mean if you go over that they will crucify you. I go over all the time and the only time I heard anything about my idle % in person was on a evaluate and he said "but it's ok I understand it's hot out" at my 43% idle.
And some trucks have APU's but all the newer ones have the battery packs on them. I should know I work for this evil discriminating awful company. *rolls eyes in sarcasm*Ops85 Thanks this. -
How good are the battery packs? what do they do?
crete is on my short list -
The battery packs have their place. In the 100 degree heat they suck. They are a pack of I think 4 batteries that run the bunk A/C and power outlets. Best way to use them is shut the cab curtains and idle with the A/C going full blast till the cab and sleeper get to a comfortable temp. Then shut the bunk curtains and run just the bunk A/C and you should be fine. It freezes me out and I like to be cold.
Ops85 Thanks this. -
I didn't see any discrimination against the OP's daughter. If anything, the OP made a mistake bringing her onto the truck. He should be glad Crete didn't call CPS on him. Personally, I would have.

I was just going of the BS being spewed by the OP, and I agree with you. Why be pissed at the company? Be pissed you would bring your daughter into a possibly harmful situation. He is just another pissed off driver who probably got fired for something he did wrong but as usual it is the companies fault.THBatMan8 Thanks this.

He didn't get fired or he would have been able to collect unemployment.
It's worth noting that the disclosure of medical conditions for a disabled person is illegal. Crete cannot legally research his daughters medical records. They only way they would know about her illness is if he told them about it. So yeah, his discriminitation story is BS.
His post seems like he's using his daughters illness to his advantage. This may not be the case, but that's what I'm gathering.
