some of you here just cant get off of your loony land of vision that the safety managers and operation are not using this technology! Like i said i moved out of a truck into this field thinking old school trucking. But it is not old school trucking! how many of you have used the remote access of a windows based computer?? used the web cam to chat with your Mother or Father? i see the reports from the iteris system and the following distance and the video it take of one mile then i have to get a hold of that drivers fleet manager to inform him of his driver! this technology is here now and it is being used with out informing the drivers because they don't have to the company name is on the title of the truck the only place they can not monitor is the sleeper birth!!!!! dam what kind of block heads post here?? Company office people ??? this is the fist thing they told me if the driver is in the driver seat then he is on company time. DOT even will tell you this! unless 1 the key is remove from the ignition. 2 the front curtain is pulled closed if you only have a sleeper birth curtain then you need to be back there!
the fact is they have gotten some lead way to use this technology and i do not wish to go a political here but trucking is a very big concern of are federal and state governments!!! i can give one good reason a moving bomb!!! add some bio hazard?? the thing is for me is WERE IS THE LINE IN THE SAND?? WERE IS IT TO SAY THEY HAVE GONE TO FAR??
OK call me a loon a coo coo a nut!!!
ask any lawyer what they can do look at all the cameras in the offices or in stores or along the road and then tell me again they are not doing this!!!
i look at it this way you have pre-pass they track your truck going down the road you have qualcom they track you going down the road they know when you stop and for how long and were truck stop rest area or by some fast food place try goggle maps on your cell phone
then i see what they can do in operations so go ahead and call me what ever if you drive a truck and you have done this long enough you know I'm right go back ten years and if i post this back then i would be a nut but today??? what will come in the next ten years???
so OK i am going to go and what else do they say here oh ya put my tin foil hat back on and I'll see ya when ET lands again

Wow, making a strong case for sanity. No doubt this tech exists, doubts on if it's being used. Relax, breath, count to 10 and let's start this over.

Tehcnology is most certainly changing, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The sooner we adopt it, and abuse it, the sooner we'll understand how to use it correctly. We're all just kids in a sand box playing with a new toy. Sure they're kind of like the old toys we used to have, but once we figure out how they work we'll understand if we like them or not.

I agree, but I also believe we're on a very slippery slope with a great deal of this new technology, and while I'm in no way paranoid, I certainly entertain some serious concerns about it all.

Lol, he's back again. Smoking crack 3 times in 10 months ain't that bad.

I bet he's peeking out the curtain at the moment.

Seriously dude, you have 7 posts since Jan and every post has paranoia written all over it.

You already know about the cell phone thing. Now you better start thinking about the camera on it. It does more than take pictures.

These smart phones.... they are really smart.

Why do you thing they went digital on TV's? They had to free up some of the airwaves for this other stuff.

Think of the jobs this is going to create, to have enough people to spy on every driver at every company is going to triple the workforce. This could be a plan for economic growth, I'm liking this the more I think about it. As a matter of fact they should put more sensors in the truck so we know EVERYTHING you do and or think about.

Wait, why not just look at developing the tech to replace drivers?

I hate it when my company spies on me. Matter of fact, that why I carry this little doodah that alerts me to spy cameras, bugs and unauthorized wire or wireless phone taps. :biggrin_2559:

Like American Express, I never leave home without it. You can get one too at all the better spy shops. I got mine in Wash. DC, on the corner of Paranoid and Schizophrenic. Just be careful nobody see you when you walk into the store!

PrePass tracks pretty good also, so we are being watched and yes it can become rather big brother. But I am not going to become paranoid about it and think the government has tracked me, if you are that afraid of government tracking or the company find somewhere that does not have it and enjoy your life.

On a company computer they have every right in the world to monitor it. On my cell phone, or my computer its against the law to record my conversation or monitor my private emails without a warrant 10-4

Don't kid yourself. It's being used. If the surveillance technology is in your vehicle, you're being watched. I heard about a multi-million dollar lawsuit a female in her 20's has placed against a large company. She was in her sleeper birth on her 10 hour break "taking care of herself". When she finished, she looked and realized that the entire thing had been recorded. She could have pulled the curtains, of course, but WHAT the hell? All I'm really getting at is that there has only been ONE person on this earth who was perfect all the time. He got nailed to a cross and he hasn't come back yet. If you have a camera in your truck, you are GOING to get caught doing something sometime that isn't perfect and you're going to get canned and DAC'd. End of line.
