I would like to gather information, and or opinions about M Bruenger Trucking, a refridgerated carrier. I think that they are based out of Wichita, Ks. I am considering switching what I pull, so I need your help if you have the time. Thanks !

Bruenger does have o/o's . About half the fleet is o/o running with them. Reefer company based in Kansas, lots of drop and hooks. Company is now owned by Roadrunner that has a big o/o group.

Thank You ki yaker; do you know any other details ? Are you aware of any praise or complaints from the O/Ops. I tried a search of M bruenger on this forum without any success. I have made contact with them, yet would still like first or second hand comments from those with knowledge of their operations. Thanks again !

I drove for them in 1980 for 1 month. Lots of meat loads, got fired Dec 8th, 1980, the day John Lennon died. Remember it well.

If they are owned by Road Runner you can find plenty on them.

    Do they pay percentage?

BigBadBill ; I received an e-mail reply from them, it said 68% and 100% of FSC. Not having any reefer knowledge, I'm not aware of an estimate of an "in general" line haul rate in that industry. I can't "ponder & chyper" the numbers without knowing an estimated rate p/mile to convert to a percentage. The 68% seems to be kinda low, but I really don't know. Thanks !

That is always the issue. It comes down to what kind of rate that percentage comes out of. I won't get into what I think about how low some of these percentages are. They are typically still better than these mileage pay programs.

I haven't done reefer in years. But besides what you are doing trying to get info from current drivers others on here should be able to give you some things that you need to watch in contracts (i.e who pays reefer fuel, detention policy, etc).

Also, if you have not pulled reefer in the past make sure you understand the "lifestyle". It is different than a van.

BigBadBill ; Thanks so very much ! I have pulled a hopper with my own authority for seven years, it's the only industry sector I know. Can you expand on the "lifestyle" difference. I typically run monday thru friday, home friday evening. I think that I would need to be willing to stay out longer, don't know. Anything else that you could explain about the "lifestyle" difference that I may not be aware of ?
