The food was actually pretty decent, a little repetitive, but decent. They provide 3 meals a day during the week and 2 meals a day (brunch and dinner) on the weekends.
The fast food joints are not what I would consider walking distance from the dorms, probably 3 or 4 miles, but some might be up for that.
I currently live in Corbin (moved there in May of 2010) but will be moving this coming May. We want to be back closer to where we grew up and where most of our family and friends are which is in North Florida and South Georgia. We are thinking of moving to somewhere in the Valdosta, GA area.
I had the same situation with the physical. Had to get one for KY permit then I got another at Crowder (thinking that was the one Con-way meant) and then another at Orientation lol.
I would suggest going to http://www.cristcdl.com/otc/ and taking all their free practice tests for general knowledge, air brakes, and combination vehicles. If you can pass those you should be ok
Now to your questions!
1) Straight to Neosho.
2) I stayed at the Booneslick Lodge sunday night but the cost was not covered by con-way.
3) Well I was there in April and Spring and Fall are often pretty similiar. I had weather from the 30's to the 90's. I would suggest being prepared for anything!
4) No idea, sorry. You could always call Crowder and ask. The receptionist, Paula, for the trucking department is a really nice lady, very helpful!
Anymore questions, just ask
Katey

Silly Starbuck. Such questioning is folly. De com-PEW-tah is ALWAYS right. Just ask the humans who were humbled when they lost to IBM's genius chess-puters.Starbuck said: ↑I think I'll post it and see who agrees with me and who thinks the computer answer was right.Click to expand...

OK, here's the question on the practice test that I don't agree with what the computer is saying is the correct answer:
Question 8
==========
Which of these statements about backing a heavy vehicle is true?
a. Backing is always dangerous.
b. You should back and turn toward the driver's side whenever possible.
c. You should use a helper and communicate with hand signals.
d. All of the above are true.
I say the correct answer is D but the computer says it's A. What do you all say? -

Well, having not had one minute of CDL instruction yet, I'm probably not going to make much sense, but just looking at this from a practical standpoint always is a pretty dangerous term. If the truck is the only thing in a 1 mile radius that is tightly controlled, backing would not be dangerous, which rules out A as the best choice.Starbuck said: ↑OK, here's the question on the practice test that I don't agree with what the computer is saying is the correct answer:

OTOH, having given hundreds of federal knowledge tests, whenever "all of the above" is included, it's a pretty good choice. And the "should" and "whenever possible" muddy the waters, too.
The question is really not a good one since there should always only be one correct answer and the answer should be clear. It's not in this case. I would have picked D, too. -
Missing one question won't fail you and you don't get a bonus or special awards for a perfect score so I wouldn't worry about it too much.Starbuck said: ↑OK, here's the question on the practice test that I don't agree with what the computer is saying is the correct answer:

BTW I believe that question was on the test when I took mine earlier this year lol -
One other thing, they will try to trick you by re wording some questions. Make sure you read it completely and sometimes a couple of times because you start reading and think you got the answer but they twist the wording and you miss it.
