SRT, or Southern Refridgerated Transport, is owned and dispatched by Covenant Transport. As a current unwilling Covenant driver, I can tell you to run far, far away! Been sitting at the house for a month and a half looking for a non-homocidal teammate, still not getting anywhere. The whole organization (Covenant, SRT, and Star) is really screwy in how they operate.
OLDSKI Thanks this. -

Recently I was offered a regional position with SRT delivering chicken. It paid .40 a mile which lead me to think the miles were low. After reading so many negative comments I decided to push back my hire date until the first of 2012. Can anyone, a Driver with SRT or a recent employee, give me good reason not to accept a position with SRT? I fully understand some Drivers have an axe to grind concerning certain companies as a result of their own mismanagement of time, talent and resourses. I will also admit some companies fully deserve a thorough review and avoidance claim, but, other companies (like drivers) need a second look. Drivers and companies deserve a chance to " clean up their act." What say you?

SRT has a Contract and runs Tyson and Conagra Frozen. Chicken is a busy segment of the company. About 400+ loads a week and therefore they need dedicated regional drivers assigned to that fleet. Most of the Drivers I have spoke to average 2500 miles a week and ususally get 1 day hometime for a 34. (don't quote pop on that, but I know guys who live in the region who claim that). It is not a day job. The loads p/u and del any time 24/7 to and from the plant or freezer. A good thing is it is steady freight with the exception of sitting while loading or delivering. They have decent equipment and good response to breakdowns(gotta keep the truck rolling). My suggestion is make a list of every little detail you can imagine, check it twice and then ask the Recrutier to explain SRT's policy regarding any issues you have before you go to orientation. Once you are there, you don't want any suprises, Right. So do yourself a favor and think about why you were not happy at the last company you worked for and build a list from there. That is my suggestion, Good Luck

Hi, I'm currently looking into a regional job with SRT with the same questions you posted. Did you accept that job and if so, how is it? What are your miles like and it's it worth all the sitting? Most of my loads are currently drop and hook so I have a reluctance to go to a company where it is mostly live loads and unloads. Any advice?

This thread has been dead since 2011

Plus they joined over a year ago and that was first post.
Driver there are some other threads on here about SRT that will give you info. Make sure you find the one about their driver that died while running their load and SRT , it's still unbelievable what they did. .....
Anyway there is info on here about them.
