Nope ! people sign on with little or no questions. I used to be a supervisor and hired a lot of people. Now I understand you don't ask on the 1st interview, but when you get a 2nd interview you should ask. I would wait until I was ready to hire and ask would you like to know what the job pays? and they were like Oh! yeah.
Only a blitering imbecile...

Most of the people that flock to these mega-carriers are nitwits with little to no common sense and a very checkered job history. The rule of thumb is, if they advertise, stay away from them.
You guys that wind up with these carriers, create your problems just by being employed by them.74dred and Rollover the Original Thank this. -

Drivers have not figured it out, They are the way they are. Trucking companies like any other company is there to turn a profit. If you want to be at home get a local job, or at least research your selections enough to get a idea of what is going to be there for you.
This board is a perfect place to do just that. OTR generally means your not going to be at home every week, Just the way it is.
As far as the industry changeing sure it has, so has music, TV and everything else in your life. But I still maintain you get what you look for, Man up,if you do not enjoy what you do the only one you have to blame is yourself. You can change jobs, But you maybe taking your problems with you.
Drive safe, Life is too short not to enjoy what you do. Trucking has bought me 2 house's and put 2 out of 4 kids thru college with the last one starting college. Just do not blame an industry for your own life choices.THBatMan8, Nycmex77, Panhandle flash and 1 other person Thank this. -
+1 My rule of thumb is that if you go to they're website and it's directed towards recruiting drivers more than it is towards customers, then stay away. I understand having a link on the web page dealing with employment, but that shouldn't be the main purpose of the site.

Sounds like somebody is pissed after getting fired from their job. Another disgruntled employee. -
Quoted for posterity.
What people need to learn is that it's the industry that's screwed up, not the individual company. All of the mainstream OTR carriers are the same. The only difference is the paint and logo on the truck and trailer. OTR isn't a 9 to 5 job. OTR isn't meant for steering wheel holders.
If you aren't able to be away from home for more than 2 weeks, then don't bother driving OTR. -
Kinda painting everyone with a broad brush.
There are nitwits with little to no common sense in all walks of life.
People wanting to break into trucking have to start somewhere. Sometimes the megas are the only game in town.Big John, THBatMan8, scottied67 and 3 others Thank this. -
I went back with a Mega carrier and I'll match my MVR and Dac with you anytime. I have a degree in Network Engineering also. Everybody starts somewhere ! so lets narrow the brush unless you have learned to walk on water
