Im not here to try and defend anyone, but when I see someone brand new to trucking come in and say he is going to quit and go somewhere else before his obligation is done, all because his training took a little more time than he would like, I cant just sit back and not say something.

Next thing you'll see is him posting about how he left and now Stevens is the bad guy cause they ruined his credit and the bill collector keeps calling him. We have all seen this happen before.

No company is perfect. Stevens has their fair share of problems just like anywhere else. But trucking is NOT an exact science. Things happen. Appointments get changed, Shippers/receivers will do things to piss you off. Traffic will get backed up to hell and make you late. But you have to be flexible and handle things as they come or you will never make it in this business.

So, you can think Im just here to defend Stevens if you want, I dont really care.

Wranglers and Shirt are pressed- lunch is made.....references and identification is prepared- Only get one chance at a first impression. Took all the prep test on http://www.cristcdl.com passed all with 90 percent or better. Cant say I dont have the jitters a bit, more than ready to get this show on the road. Thanks for all the leaders in this forum. I am here due to all of your advice and shared experience. Updates to come. Keep up straight and spinning!!:biggrin_25514:

This is what happens when the non voting public allows the government to tax things until their price causes users actions to resemble coke fiends in the seventies. I quit when the price reached $3.00 a pack. Now, here on Cape Cod, they're over $8.50 per pack in some places. You have to expect this to create nicotine junkies.:biggrin_25523:

Soar spot with me ... 12 years and I still miss my smokies.

Ok, I now hand the room back to the next soap box occupant. LOL

All the best laid plans of mice and men.
I'm trying to scrub the STUPID sign off my forehead.
Answered the phone from dispatch yesterday. First mistake.
Never answer a phone call from Stevens on the weekend.
Long story short? Repowered a meat load in Toledo with two drops in NY. First is Hudson (upstate). Second is LaGuardia area.
Told them there wasn't enough time on load.
Meat promises to repower second drop, gives me preplan to P/U at Hershey and get out to Ogden for friday delivery.
Wandered thru the wilderness to get here. Had to divert due to flood ravaged areas.
Made it here for the first drop only a half hour late.
After sending in 'Arrived at Drop', get cancel notice on preplan.
    Andy in meat won't answer.
When will I learn not to answer the phone?
On the postive side, student now has all requirements except time.

    Better yet, QUIT! :biggrin_25521:

And put it in perspective: Figure out how many miles you have to drive for one pack.

    Corporal_Clegg Thanks this.

Ask them for their cell phone number and name before accepting. If they called yours you have every right to ask for theirs. I would also ask for the name of their manager, just in case when you call back they are not available, they love this.
