99%!!!! Awfully broad statement there. My experience indicates bad antenna/coax the majority of the time. Volting the finals would be another cause however.

You cannot volt the finals in a Cobra 200, only the driver stage. The 150 can but it is a stupid mod, also not likely his problem anyway. Fix the antenna system and quit worrying about it. Problem solved.

Once again I agree with AB71F ! ALL the years that I have fooling with CB's 99.9% of problems are due to poor installations of antennas ( BAD SWR ) or operator error ( usually hooking the radio up backwards (e.g. hooking ground wire up to positive voltage) In my 35 + years of trucking I have burned up two sets of final transistors due to ME not hooking up my antenna and keying the mic! AND I GO NO WHERE OR RUN NO TRIP without my CB! ANd I am a slip seat freight hauler and I have installed my radios 1000's of times !
