i worked in 2 tractor shops as a mechanic i have pretty good values and couldnt belive the stuff i seen techs do, steeling change , grabing a sandwich or whatever out of the bunk , heck i even seen a few take naps in teh trucks while on the clock ... it surely is ashame , maybe thats why i only did 2 yrs of wrenching ? heck i couldnt even take lunch without locking my box up most days . anyways ... as a past tech , if you take your truck in make sure you got your valuables out of it

we have a small shop. i took truck in to have service, someone took my new leather gloves and removed an oil filter with them. then put them oil soaked gloves back in the cab. i raised plenty of sand about it. best i got was " WELL NOBODY WOULD OWN UP TO IT" i said rather loudly" i sure as heck didn't drive in here with them in that shape". jackarses.

Best choice here, send the letter and send it the regional mgr. and be done with it. Tell no one you did this.( if you like your job ) and take your personal stuff home.

I don't like thieves anymore than anyone else but I also like to eat. Truck mgmt. tends to knee jerk and that's my apprehension sticking my nose in a situation like this. You could be swept up in a house cleaning.

    Good luck

They are great for single drivers. I bought some of them solar landscape lights this past spring. I didn't have them a month and someone stole them when I wasn't home.

My neighbor is an avid deer hunter and told me about that camera. Next time I'll catch the thieving crooks. So far I watched a few friends pull in the driveway and leave, a couple dogs, and a chicken, lol.

As to the shop thing, I always take my cash and little valubles out anymore. Just put them in a carryon bag and take it with you.

I never care about the politics. what about doing what is right? when it comes to doing what is in MY best interest or doing what is right, I'll go with what is right. though I am a lil less selfish than some others. selfish? yeah. people thinking.. it ain't out of my pocket, I don't care attitude. my perspective is, what example am I setting for my kid's.I almost always think about what my 6 kid's hear or see what I do. what about the owners of the co? if the higher up's do not want to know. THAT,I understand why some one would not want to snitch, but not just because I don't care attitude. I would simply talk to the highest ranking person in the co I could find, & always & only in person. look them in the eye & ask them, if some one was stealing from this co, would YOU want to know. I would rather be fired for being honest, than keep my job by saying I see nor hear nothing. give me whatever the consequence for being honest, than the guilt for not doing what is right.

Thanks to all that replied so far.
Ya, i was kind of thinkin that if I were to make light of this, it would go against me. And it's interesting that someone mentioned that the boss's already know, and that hiring someone else is a gamble. He is a good mechanic when he works and he has all the knowledge to go with.

It's very irritating knowing that the whole day I'm out making a living for this company, including this guys salary, he's plotting a scheming his next theft, sitting in his office on the computer, cell phone and doing as little as he can until the next major repair. Very irritating.

I thought about the anonymous letter as well, being the best route, cause I sure as hell don't want the attention, good or bad. I don't think the other drivers would stand behind me on this, you know how folks don't want to get involved. And I'll get snubbed for the rest of my days here. The letter might be the best route, but forgetting has it's advantages too.

ya, know you struck a chord on this one, it's the guilt of knowing this is going on and not doing anything. thanks for the reply
