They are increasing the volume of freight being shipped in CONTAINERS

Yeah, believe it or not, 24 to 27 dollars a 20 foot container is what these jackals have reduced themselves to. Of course on a b train its 4 x 27 with two coming in and two going out to a very local yard. The way they hope to make their money is to make about 10 to 12 trips into the railheads a day. They are usually lucky to get 4 or 5 as the wait times at these two Brampton and Vaughn Terminals is horrendenous so they wind up standing around crying to each other about what a lousy job they have.

Container drayage is a horrible way to make money. They went on strike in Vancouver a few years ago to get the rates raised, but the problem is they do it to themselves.

If there had been a driver shortage freight would have been stacked up on shippers docks and CBC and CTV would have been reporting it. Driver shortage is a myth purpotrated by carriers that want to import cheap labour!

Container drayage is done by CHEAP imported labour that live on rice and have four families jammed in a three bedroom house. They reap what they sew!

    mgfg,
You surely must have owned or ran one or two different trucking companies in larger markets and saw this first hand, because certainly you would not say something like based solely on seeing other drivers in the trucks that were not white and making a leap assuming they were willing to work for cheap, and lived on rice. Your "ethnic" friends must have never invited to their house because there simply was no room, what with all those people living in that one room shack. Maybe they all work for the same company because when they try working where you work, they are made to feel so welcome with insightful comments like the one above. Keep up the good work.
